"We received news this morning that Dr Mu’aths body was found. 😢😢😢 God rest his soul.

He had gone back to his destroyed house in Jalabia on Friday to try to recover some belongings — as he and his wife and two little children had ran under the bombs the last time they evacuated. They had left many things behind. He had looked at the map, and the yellow line, and thought his house was in a safe zone. Unfortunately we soon found out it wasn’t, when contact with him was lost, and everybody who reached the place was shot at. Until this day, everybody who approaches a certain line in Gaza gets shot at. But on Friday, we didn’t know yet where these lines were.

Dr Mu’aths was such a kind person who never asked for help and was always ready to help others. We don’t know how we will recover from this tremendous loss, after working with him every day for almost two years. He was always ready, worked with us 7 days per week in the medical point during the most difficult times. Never asked for a pay raise, never complained, even as he and his family were in the most desperate circumstances.

He is a kind and loyal person who is survived by two young children: Yousef (3 years old) and Talat (1 year and 8 months old) and his wife Rania. We are so sorry for their loss too. God rest his soul."

1. Please continue to tag American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and your other organizations to intervene and do their jobs in promoting public health internationally in this profession.

2. Leave factual comments on AVMA's social media or their locations on Google (in IL) urging them to break their silence.

This is pr•paganda.

Do I think that pointing out the Hatch Act is being violated will make a difference in the way this country is operating? No. The US government is still part of the white supremacist, imperialist and colonial machine that continues to harm Black, Indigenous, and People of the Global Majority. I don't think acknowledging the messaging of a hateful government is going to solve systemic issues when the entire country is founded on the subjugation of people.

I do want people to see how this will continue to make animal healthcare and veterinary medicine more white/racist/hateful by specifically pushing a right-wing extremist message about one side of the government. Would you allow this if the party listed was "Republicans"? You shouldn't. I would make this post regardless of which party is named, because these organizations are being used to pit us against one another, while those in positions of power continue to hurt us all.

This marketing of the shutdown is just another way to manipulate people, including those of us in professions that use organizations like the USDA, DEA, CDC, and other partner organizations we work with under a One Health umbrella.

Every day we are passively consuming messaging that influence our perceptions of things around us. The only way to combat pr•paganda and misinformation is to acknowledge it and recognize the harm it will cause. This messaging is designed to coerce and make you feel a specific way without the facts of why the government shutdown. V!olence continues to escalate in this country, for many reasons including the emotional manipulation of the general public.

So be aware, be safe, and create security nets to protect you and those around you.

Today is World Rabies Day - an important day to bring awareness and education about this fatal disease.

⚠️CW: Slide 8, videos of four animals suspected to have or with confirmed rabies⚠️

Given the intense vaccine hesitancy in veterinary medicine spilling over from human medicine (and not being aided by political clowns in positions of in the US right now), I decided to make a much more in-depth post about rabies, because we are seeing more rabies non-vaccination amongst domestic species and currently there is a multi-state outbreak being tracked right now in the US. I tried to write this for the average person, not just those of us in animal care.

Six people have died from rabies in the US since September of last year, and thousands more in other parts of the world. If vaccine hesitancy continues to worsen, or vaccine rollbacks go into law, rabies could absolutely become more of a problem in the US and other places with regular vaccine access.

If you're worried about a possible rabies exposure, please contact your healthcare provider or your animal's veterinarian to talk about what you can do to keep you and/or your animals safe.

Hey everyone! I'm writing cards again for National Vet Tech Week. When I did this last, I sent over 100 cards to 50 States and three countries and so I can't wait to see just how many I can write. Please interact with and share this post so others can see it!

That being said, at my core I'm
🚫ANTI-celebration🚫 weeks. These weeks DO NOT:

💰 Increase wages to be livable
💪🏻 Address tech utilization gaps
🧾 Resolve lack of title protection
👎🏻 Enact MEANINGFUL CHANGE

So if you (no matter your role) want to get more involved in making this profession better for veterinary technicians:

1️⃣ Join your state veterinary technician group (vets you can do this too!) ✅
2️⃣ Work with legislators to write title protection into law 🧾
3️⃣ Pay your staff a living wage, not in pizza parties 🍕
4️⃣ Financially support them going to veterinary technician school to becoming credentialed (this is the direction the field is going) 💰
5️⃣ and vets, LISTEN TO YOUR TECHS when they bring you concerns, make recommendations, go to CE, etcetera. 🫡

Along with doing the above things, I hope my cards bring you joy, and make you feel valued. It's just one piece of the puzzle to make this profession better 🖤

🚨 IVECCS COVID exposure🚨

This will be a temporary post that I take down in like a week, but in case people are looking to see, yes COVID was at IVECCS 2025. A conference being a COVID hotbed? Who knew.

I'm angry. I did (almost) everything right. But I want people to be safe, so I'm disclosing that I tested positive for COVID coming home from IVECCS. I test before and after every trip I do. And after seeing my positive test, I checked my temperature and realized I had a mild fever.

I recommend that you test yourself before and after you go on a trip or if you ever feel sick. COVID is NOT a cold. It is a vascular illness that can have cumulative effects over time. It can lead to chronic illnesses and further health complications and it is something that I'm legitimately terrified of because what if one time I get infected, I lose my ability to remember something important for my job? What if it permanently disables me and I can't work anymore. What if I infect someone I care about? All of these are real fears.

And please consider masking again for the chronically ill, disabled, and immunocompromised people in your life.

Heartbroken and scared and angry does not begin to cover how I feel right now.
