Our sweet old boy, Diggy (also lovingly known as Keith or Carly Bear) is more than just a dog. He’s our comfort after long days, our shadow around the house, our gentle protector, the steady presence that makes our house feel like home. He is family.
Recently, our veterinarian discovered a tumor on the left side of his chest, near his armpit. Cytology results indicate it is a soft tissue tumor that has become locally aggressive. It’s begun affecting his gait and overall comfort, and watching him become unable to walk has been heart breaking.
At this time, we don’t yet know if the tumor is benign or malignant. Further testing is required to determine whether the cells could metastasize. Because of its location, close to his axillary lymph nodes, Diggy will need surgery performed by a board-certified veterinary surgeon under full anesthesia. We’ve been advised to seek urgent veterinary care.
As many of you know, emergency and specialty veterinary care comes at a significant cost. We are humbly asking for support to help cover:
- Pre-operative lab work: $200
- Chest radiographs: $250
- Anesthesia: $1,200
- Tumor removal surgery: $1,800
We are setting our goal slightly higher for now, as this is considered a high-risk procedure and final costs may vary depending on surgical complexity and post-operative care.
