P**p Fairy Tip of the Week

The 7-7-7 rule is a developmental framework used by trainers and veterinarians to help puppies become well-adjusted, confident adults.

The rule suggests that by 7 weeks of age, a puppy should be exposed to sets of 7 different experiences across multiple categories.

7 Objects: Playing with various items (hard, soft, squeaky toys).

7 Locations: Exploring different environments (parks, the car, different rooms).

7 Challenges: Facing obstacles like small steps, boxes, or tunnels to build problem-solving skills.

7 Food Sources/Containers: Eating from different bowls (metal, ceramic, plastic) and in different locations.

10 Surprising Facts About Dog Waste

1. It’s classified as a toxic pollutant: The U.S. EPA classifies dog waste as an environmental pollutant on par with toxic chemicals and oil, largely because it does not act like natural fertilizer.

2. Millions of bacteria per gram: A single gram of dog waste can contain 23 million f***l coliform bacteria, which is twice the amount found in human waste.

3. It causes water contamination: Dog p**p washed into storm drains is a major source of urban water pollution. The waste from just 100 dogs over a few days can introduce enough bacteria to close 20 miles of a watershed to swimming and shellfishing.

4. It destroys local ecosystems: Because of a dog's protein-rich diet, their waste is highly acidic and packed with nitrogen and phosphorus. Left to wash into streams, it promotes suffocating algal blooms that starve fish of oxygen.
