❤️❤️Meet Nala & Ziggy: A Love Story (Now With Zero Adoption Fees!)❤️❤️

Some love stories are epic. Some are dramatic. And some involve a flame point Siamese diva and her zen tuxedo husband who gently bathes kittens for fun. Allow us to introduce Nala and Ziggy, a bonded pair so devoted to each other that separating them would be a true crime against romance. 💕

👑 Nala is the epitome of a queen. A flame point Siamese with opinions, boundaries, and a preferred vantage point from which to silently judge your life choices. She’s independent, regal, and selective with affection—very selective. When she does allow pets, consider it a great honor. Think of her as a Lemonhead candy: looks sweet, but surprise! She's tart inside.
That said, it’s important to note: when Nala is away from the chaos of the shelter and just with her beloved Ziggy, she’s noticeably less salty. We strongly suspect that once she decompresses in a calm home with her husband, the demon energy may reduce to a mild haunting. 👻

😇 Ziggy, on the other paw, is a zen masterpiece. A tuxedo cat with the soul of a nanny, he is calm, gentle, and endlessly sweet. He’s shy at first, but his heart is enormous—and he uses it to care for everyone around him. He’s known as the resident kitten bather and emotional support gentleman. If love were a job, Ziggy would be working overtime.

☯️ Together?
They are obsessed with each other. Snuggling. Grooming. Existing in a constant state of mutual adoration. Nala may rule the kingdom, but Ziggy is clearly her peace. Who are we to stand in the way of true love?

🏠 Their ideal home:
No young kids (Nala’s sass is advanced-level)
A calm environment where they can reign, relax, and love freely
✨ Bonus: Their adoption fees are fully sponsored—because fate (and the volunteer sponsoring their fees) says this love story deserves a happy ending.
If you’re looking for a pair that balances divine sass with pure sweetness, royalty with serenity, and drama with devotion—Nala and Ziggy are ready to take over your home and your heart. 💖

FOR ADOPTION! Sisters CALISTA and COSETTE (solid grey), born 10/25/25, were strays in Norwood. (Their mama is very friendly, so she was likely dumped.) They were taken in by a good samaritan and worked with until the SCHS could fit them. The stressful cat room is not their favorite place, but they're settling in and getting lots of lovin's.

FOR ADOPTION! Siblings EMINEM (buff M) and KIARA (dilute F), born 8/30/25, came from a home where a resident spent his time and money caring for a number of strays. Now working on getting them fixed, he knew he needed to part with some. Both these teenagers are wonderful. Eminem is Mr. Personality and very big for his age. Kiara is submissive and loves to be petted. Once settled into a loving home, they will be the best. NOTE: Sister NEWT (buff F) will be available after treatment of goopy eyes.

ADOPTED! Brenda lost two of her pets very recently. With a feline teenager still at home and needing a buddy, she came in to decide who should go home with her. On her second visit, she came back to handsome SLATE. We hope this precious boy is just what is needed to put smiles on everyone's face.

ADOPTED! The Belks were approved to adopt and were most interested in Colby J. Even with so many others vying for attention, they stuck to their guns. Who can blame them? This boy is simply awesome.

ADOPTED! Caleb brought his kids in to look at kittens...but only one would be adopted. They spent lots of time visiting, discussing, holding and debating until it was decided sweet VIXEN would join her new family's holiday celebration. Happy life!

I'm looking for a free kitten because shelter prices are a scam!

Annie posted this on Nextdoor because she wanted to adopt a kitten for her 8-year-old daughter for Christmas. She had just returned home from a local shelter and was horrified to see the adoption fee of $100. "Shelters shouldn't be making money by selling pets. Those adoption fees are ridiculous!"

You can guess how this turned out. Annie found a free kitten in November but didn't have any place to hold the kitten until Christmas morning. You can't wrap them and hide them in a closet. So, her daughter received a very early Christmas present. Her daughter fell in love with the cute little striped tabby. She slept with her at night and rushed home after school so she could play with her new baby. It was perfect.

A week after adoption, the kitten stopped eating, was vomiting and wasn't playing any more. She rushed her to the emergency vet and had x-rays and other tests. It appeared to be panleukopenia, so the vet kept the kitten so they could monitor her, give her fluids and provide other supportive care. Three days later, she was still p***y but on the mend. She was lucky to survive! Annie, however, wasn't so lucky. The vet bill was over $3,600!

When the kitten was older, she put a note out to find a "cheap vet" to get the kitten vaccinated and spayed. She'd called a few clinics and it was going to be over $600. Isn't there a cheaper place?

When she contacted us, we gave her links to our local low-cost clinics. The cheapest one was going to be $120 for the spay, rabies, FVRCP, parasite treatments and a microchip. That is a great deal, but $20 more than the shelter's "scam" price. And she would still need another vet visit in a month for booster shots. By the time the tabby was fully vetted, she was a $3,750 kitten. Worth every penny of course, but it will months before Annie can pay off the credit card bill for the emergency room visit.

There is no such thing as a free kitten. If you adopt from a shelter or rescue, you are getting a kitten who is vaccinated, altered, microchipped and treated for parasites. A free kitten has not even been checked for common diseases or birth defects. It is a bargain compared to the prices you will pay to do this all yourself.

ADOPTED! Our last holiday adoption took place on Christmas Eve when the Kirklands saw the cats at PetSmart. They were directed to our adoption facility where they spent about an hour getting to know the gang. They chose newbie Obsidian, who'd been in foster care since birth. We hope this active, goofy girl fits the bill!

FOR ADOPTION! A tiny FERN, born 7/9/25, came in with Mama Mia over the summer. When she was diagnosed with Mega Colon – a condition where her colon couldn’t push her poo out of her body – we geared up for whatever came. However, after completing special meds and food, she’s doing great. It appears she has outgrown the condition. She has no discomfort and loves to play at high-speed with the other cats in her foster home. In fact, it's important that she have a playful cat buddy in her forever home. She isn’t at all bothered by big dogs and when she is tired, all she wants is a lap or to be held. At night, she loves to burrow under her foster parents’ covers.
