Yesterday, we said goodbye to our beloved house cat, Sammy. For more than 10 years, she was part of the heart (and mischief) of Albany Animal Hospital.

For many years, Sammy reigned as the queen of our pharmacy area - and like any true queen, she insisted on being right in the middle of whatever you were doing, often draped over keyboards or blocking your work entirely. Her "help" was always accompanied by a purr and a look that said she was in charge.

We could always count on the sound of a clatter in one of our exam rooms - Sammy trying to get the Cheez Whiz (a daily mission she took quite seriously). She loved hopping onto staff's shoulders soaking up ear rubs, and sneaking the whipped cream off our coffee drinks.

Sammy brought joy, laughter, and comfort to our team every day. She will be deeply missed by all of us, but we're grateful for the years of love (and sass) she shared.

May you have all the Cheez Whiz you could ever want, sweet Sammy 🐾🧡

🐾 Why Does My Puppy or Kitten Need Vaccine Boosters?

Protecting your pet during their most vulnerable time
When your pet is born, they receive natural protection from their mother through her milk. These protective antibodies help defend against disease in the first few weeks of life — but they also block vaccines from working properly.

So why do we give a series of shots?
Because we can’t predict exactly when your pet will stop receiving protection from mom’s antibodies. If we:

Vaccinate too early → the vaccine may not work.

Vaccinate too late → your pet could be unprotected for a time.
