Happy Veterinary Technician Week!

This week, we celebrated the amazing veterinary technicians who go above and beyond every single day for the patients who need them most! From comforting nervous pets and monitoring anesthesia to assisting with procedures and supporting their teammates, vet techs play such an important role in keeping our furry family members healthy and happy.

Behind every successful procedure, wagging tail, and purr is a team of dedicated people who put their hearts into caring for animals. The long days, hard work, compassion, and dedication never go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for everything our technicians and assistants do!

Help us celebrate our incredible vet techs and thank them for all they do! 💙

💙 October is National Pet Wellness Month! 💙

At Reid Veterinary Hospital, we offer both young adult and senior wellness blood panels to help us get a better picture of your furry family member’s overall health!

Why run blood work on a healthy pet?

🐾 Establish a baseline: Learn what’s normal for your pet so we can recognize changes over time.

🐾 Early detection: Help identify potential health concerns before noticeable symptoms appear.

🐾 Personalized care: Use valuable information to help guide your pet’s care as they grow and age.

Our pets can’t always tell us when something feels wrong, so preventive care is one of the best ways we can help keep their tails wagging and their purrs going!

If you ever have questions about wellness blood work, give us a call at 541-928-8341 and our team would be happy to help!

Because a healthy pet is a happy pet ❤️

Happy Wellness Month from Liam and Mia 💙

All of us at Reid Veterinary Hospital are hoping for a clean and speedy recovery for Monster! Shout out to Dr. Harrison for being able to help!

SAR Team Rescues Injured Dog on Duffy Lake Trail

On Tuesday, July 22, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Linn County Sheriff’s Office received an SOS alert from Garmin’s emergency response center.

Astrid Scholz of Portland, Oregon, reported that her dog, “Monster,” had suffered a deep laceration while hiking near Jorn Lake in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness. The injury left the dog unable to walk.

Search and Rescue Coordinator Ric Lentz quickly established communication with Scholz through her Garmin device and coordinated a response. When Scholz reported that Monster was becoming aggressive due to pain, Dr. Harrison Reid of Reid Veterinary Hospital in Albany volunteered to assist. Dr. Reid hiked in with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office SAR team to provide sedation for the dog.

Scholz was able to create an improvised harness and hike approximately three miles with Monster to Duffy Lake. The SAR team and Dr. Reid then hiked roughly four miles to reach them. After sedating Monster, the team safely transported the dog back to the Duffy Lake Trailhead. Monster was reported to be doing well upon arrival.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere thanks to Dr. Harrison Reid for volunteering his time and expertise to help rescue Monster.

Good Morning!
Lots of road construction happening around our building this week. Most of the roads leading to our driveway on Elm St. say “Road Closed”. Please roll down your window to let the road workers know your destination and they will waive you through to our driveway!
Thank you! Drive Safe!
