***IMPORTANT NOTICE***
We are announcing the upcoming closure of Friendly Paws Vet Clinic, due to the ending of our lease and the retirement of Dr. Price after 30 years in veterinary medicine.

OUR CLOSURE IS EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 31, 2026. We will likely continue seeing patients into October on a case-by-case basis, depending on what we can reasonably accommodate as we work with limited equipment and supplies. As such, dental procedures and X-rays will NOT be available after August 31.

We are referring clients to the newly-opened Aspen River Veterinary Hospital in Belcamp. Like Friendly Paws, Aspen River is a privately-owned small animal veterinary practice that offers a full array of services and is dedicated to providing quality care.

Aspen River will be taking over our patient medical records. If you have any questions or need assistance with records requests, feel free to call our office. AFTER OCTOBER 31, PLEASE CONTACT ASPEN RIVER VET FOR MEDICAL RECORDS PERTAINING TO ANY VETERINARY SERVICES PROVIDED BY FRIENDLY PAWS.

THANK YOU for your support, patience, and understanding over the years, and as we conclude operations. It has been a privilege serving our community. We truly appreciate your trust in us to care for your beloved pets, and wish all of you the best moving forward!

New Saturday Hours
For the months of August and September, the only Saturdays we will be offering services are August 15 and September 19. These appointments will require the exam fee paid at the time of scheduling. Hours of operation will remain the same, 8:30am-12pm. Thank you for your continued support and understanding!

With wildfire smoke creating poor air quality across the U.S, the AVMA is reminding the public that wildfire smoke can pose serious health risks not only to people, but to pets and livestock as well.

Smoke from wildfires contains fine particles that can cause respiratory issues in animals, especially those with pre-existing heart or lung disease. Canelo, a 97 pound bundle of love and excitement came to see us today! His wonderful pet parents shared a photo of his quiet side after we finally got a wiggle free photo for Facebook. He is such a sweet guy and started our weekend off with a smile ❤️🐾

With the dangerously high temperatures this weekend, we want to give you some prevention steps and tips on how to keep your pets cool and safe in this heat ☀️

Prevention tips:
🔅 Limit outdoor activity to early morning or late evening to avoid highest temps
🔅 Provide constant shade and fresh water
🔅 Protect their paws - avoid hot pavement to prevent burns
🔅 Never leave your pet in a parked car

Signs of heatstroke:
🔅 Heaving panting and drooling
🔅 Weakness
🔅 Whining
🔅 Vomiting
🔅 Collapse

What to do when your pet overheats:
🔅 Move them to air conditioned spaces with access to water
🔅 Wet their fur and place them in front of a fan
🔅 Do not use ice baths - can cause shock

🌡️ Maryland Heat Wave Alert 🐾

Keep your fur babies indoors as much as possible over the next few days as extreme temperatures move through our area. Heat stroke can develop quickly and become life-threatening, even after a short time outdoors.

💧 Provide plenty of fresh water
🏠 Keep pets in air-conditioned or shaded areas
🚗 Never leave pets in vehicles
🐾 Avoid walks during peak heat hours and check pavement temperatures before heading outside

HOLIDAY HOURS:
We will be closing on Friday, July 3 at 3pm in observance of Independence Day and will RE-OPEN on Monday, July 6 at 8:30am. Three cheers for the red, white, and blue!
