Today is National Rescue Dog Day. 🐾
Two days ago, we said goodbye to Marley 😭 our rescue dog, our family.
Many years ago, Marley came into our lives as a dog nobody really wanted. He was bullied, injured, fearful, and far from the “perfect” dog many people imagine when adopting or buying a pet. But over time, he taught us something important: rescue dogs do not need to be perfect to deserve love.
National Rescue Dog Day is not just about celebrating cute dogs. It is also a reminder that bringing a pet home is a lifelong commitment. They are with us through our busy seasons, our life changes, and eventually through sickness and old age too.
Too often, pets are wanted because they are adorable puppies, trendy during certain periods, or because children ask for them. But when caring for them becomes difficult, some are abandoned — and many end up becoming rescue dogs waiting for another chance.
Marley may have been a rescue dog, but in many ways, he rescued us too.
Thank you for staying with us for all these years, Marley. You were deeply loved until the very end.🤍
If you have a rescue pet, give them an extra hug today and tell us their story below.
