Our feline patient with her battle scars.

For almost 2 years, this patient suffered from a non-healing wound due to failure of epithelialization and wound contraction. The chronic nature of the wound likely resulted in fibrosis and poor local vascularity around the wound edges, making healing very difficult.

Through reconstructive surgery using an advancement flap technique, along with daily wound management and laser therapy, significant improvement is finally being seen.

Healing is still ongoing and a few more days of recovery are needed, but we are hopeful for continued progress and no complications ahead.

Just a UCVC reminder hereee HEAT STROKE IN PETS ☀️🐾

The heat lately has been extreme, and UCVC has recently seen a rise in heat stroke cases in pets. Heat stroke is a serious and life-threatening emergency that can happen faster than most owners expect.

Please make sure your pets stay cool, hydrated, and protected from direct heat exposure. Avoid leaving them outdoors without proper shade and ventilation, and never leave them inside parked vehicles even for a short period of time.

⚠️ Watch out for these warning signs:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling or salivation
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting or diarrhea

If you notice any of these symptoms, seek veterinary care immediately. Early intervention can save lives. 💙

Sharing radiographs of a canine patient who suffered a radio-ulnar fracture. Due to budget limitations, stainless DCP plates were used for fracture stabilization.

Titanium locking plates may provide additional advantages in some cases, but DCP plates still offer good stability and remain a reliable option compared to doing nothing or relying on a cast alone for this type of fracture.

Sharing radiographs from a contrast radiography procedure performed on a cat with urethral obstruction. Since the patient had not urinated for 2 days, contrast radiography was done to check for possible leakage due to bladder or urethral rupture.

Sharing radiographs of a puppy from La Union that suffered a spiral tibial fracture. ORIF was performed using titanium plates and screws, with additional cerclage wire support to improve stability and alignment.

Special care was taken in screw placement to avoid the physis (growth plate), which is essential for normal bone growth in growing puppies.
