The heartbreaking discoveries continue.

According to a Facebook Live report by Luna and Furry Siblings, additional sites containing the remains of deceased companion animals have been discovered in Barangays Minuyan 4 and Minuyan 5, both in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.

An estimated 14 pet remains were found in Minuyan 4, while approximately 30–40 more were reportedly discovered in Minuyan 5.

These latest discoveries raise even more disturbing questions about the extent of the alleged improper disposal of pets entrusted to cremation services.

HOW MANY MORE? HOW MANY FAMILIES ARE STILL WAITING FOR ANSWERS?

We urge affected pet owners to come forward, preserve their receipts and cremation documents, and help establish the full extent of this disturbing incident.

Kaya isipin natin ang sakit at pag-aalala ng mga pamilyang maaaring naghihintay ngayon ng kasagutan.
As a veterinarian, I believe responsible pet aftercare should involve proper handling, clear documentation, transparency, and compassion.

I’ve been practicing veterinary medicine for 8 years now, and I’ve spent every holiday season, from September to December, working in the clinic. Over the years, I’ve seen how the veterinary industry changes during these months.

Pero ngayong taon, ibang-iba talaga.

Dati, marami pa rin kaming middle-class pet owners na regular na nakakapagpa-vet. Pero ngayon, ramdam na ramdam mo na mas kaunti na ang nakakayang magpagamot ng pets nila. Karamihan sa mga pumapasok sa clinic ay yung mga financially capable pa rin o mga long-time clients namin.

At sa ekonomiya natin ngayon, hindi lang pet owners ang nahihirapan. Pati veterinary clinics, ramdam na ramdam ang epekto.

May mga veterinary clinics na rin na nagsasara, at nakakalungkot isipin na pati mga kapwa namin veterinarians at clinic staff ay apektado. Hindi rin biro ang magpatakbo ng animal hospital. May pasahod, renta, equipment, gamot, utilities, at marami pang operational expenses.

At kapag nagsara ang isang veterinary clinic, hindi lang negosyo ang nawawala. Nababawasan din ang mga lugar na puwedeng puntahan ng pet owners para magpagamot ng kanilang mga alaga.

Pero mas nakakalungkot isipin yung mga hayop na nangangailangan ng medical attention pero hindi na madala sa veterinarian dahil walang budget.

Napapansin ko rin ang pagdami ng pet owners na humihingi ng tulong sa social media para lang maipagamot ang mga alaga nila.

And honestly, I can’t blame them.

Hindi naman lahat ng pet owners na walang pambayad ay irresponsible. Minsan, ginagawa na nila ang lahat, pero talagang hindi na sapat ang kinikita nila para sa araw-araw na gastusin, lalo na kapag may medical emergency.

At bilang veterinarian, ang hirap din makakita ng mga pasyenteng may chance pang gumaling, pero limitado ang treatment options dahil sa financial constraints.

This is why good governance matters.

Kapag hindi maayos ang pamamalakad ng bansa, hindi lang presyo ng pagkain, pamasahe, at bills natin ang apektado. Pati access sa healthcare ng mga alaga natin, damay.

Sa totoo lang, nakakalungkot na unti-unting nagiging pribilehiyo ang veterinary care na dapat mas accessible sa mas maraming pet owners.

Hindi ko sinasabing dapat libre ang veterinary services. May gastos din ang pagpapatakbo ng animal hospital, at may mga taong nagtatrabaho at umaasa rito.

Pero sana dumating ang panahon na hindi na kailangang mamili ng isang pamilya sa pagitan ng pang-araw-araw nilang pangangailangan at pagpapagamot ng mahal nilang alaga.

Because our pets are also paying the price for an economy they had no part in creating.

A little less work, a little more life.

One of the best feelings in life is finally being able to provide for my mom’s needs and little wants, even though she never asks for anything.

Back when we were in college, she worked abroad as a domestic helper. With her small salary, she managed to support all four of us until we graduated. Looking back, I can only imagine how much she had to sacrifice just to give us a better future.

Now, being able to make her life a little easier, even in small ways, means so much to me. I know I can never repay everything she’s done, but I’m just thankful that I finally get to do something for her.

It’s not Mother’s Day or her birthday. Just a random realization of how far we’ve come and how grateful I am that I get to give back to the person who gave so much for us.
