After an earthquake, you might notice changes in your pet:

• Hiding, shaking, whining, or defensive behavior
• Trying to run or escape, especially during aftershocks
• Refusing food, digestive upsets, or indoor accidents
• Injuries from debris or worsening chronic conditions
• Restlessness and being on edge in the days that follow

In dogs, we often see leaky heart valves or weak, enlarged hearts. In cats, the most common issue is thickened heart muscles that make it harder for the heart to pump blood.

The tricky part? 🐾 Pets may not show clear signs until the illness is advanced. You might only notice:
