Did you know we can help to arrange for a very experienced and trusted local vet to come to our quiet farewell room here in Tawa, gently helping your pet find their final rest?

This allows your pet to pass peacefully on a soft blanket in a private, peaceful and unhurried space. Once they transition, they are already safely in our care, saving you from having to drive anywhere else. (Of course, we can still collect from your local vet clinic if you prefer!)

Just putting this out there for anyone who might need a quieter option.

Where's your fur babies' favourite spot to hang out in Wellington?

They sniffed through our trails, Makara and Mt Kaukau. They loved running on the waterfront, Petone, Red Rocks, or maybe Kapiti coast.

Choosing a farewell that protects the nature our fur babies loved just makes sense.

Using a gentle flow of warm water instead of fire, aquamation leaves an incredible soft footprint on the earth. There is merely any carbon output and less than 10% energy used compared to flame. It is a quiet comfort knowing we honour the beautiful nature we live in. A peaceful, respectful and natural return is what settles many hearts.

It is a choice made out of love for our fur babies, out of respect for the environment we share with them. and a gentle tribute to a life well lived and forever loved.

Our families choose aquamation because it offers the most gentle farewell. Gentle to our pet babies, gentle to our environment; and gentle to our hearts, knowing it is a quiet return to nature and the beautiful start of a new life cycle. Escorted by a soothing flow, they leave this world surrounded by the same protective embrace they entered it with.

A gentle farewell. A peaceful circle of life.

The storm in the past week certainly reminded us who the boss is with the wild weather! The calm that follows always feels a little more precious on a Saturday arvo like this. We hope everyone weathered the storm safely.

My schnauzer girl, aka the Ambassador of Aquafare, was too sassy to even consider getting her paws wet for a toilet break outside last few days. There were a lot of very disapproving looks (like this one in the photo) aimed at the backyard. Sitting down with a warm drink today and watching her finally get to roll around on the dry lawn is such a simple but incredibly satisfying moment of life.

Did yours bravely faced the rain, or you also got the "I am absolutely NOT going out in that" look?

Navigating the loss of a family pet alongside our children is one of the hardest parts of parenting. Here are a few gentle approaches that we hope to help support your whānau through the goodbye.

- The power of honest words. Gently using words like ‘died’ helps children understand that death is permanent, so they don’t spend time waiting for their pet to return.

- Making space for a goodbye. Letting them be involved can be incredibly healing. Let them draw pictures, save a lock of fur, make a scrapbook, pick a flower or blankie for the tangi, or help choose a resting place shows that their wee mate truly mattered. It’s a healthy way to process the loss together.

- Sharing your own tears: It is completely okay to let them see you grieve. Sharing your sadness is a powerful way to validate their big emotions and show them they aren't alone in how they feel.

- Explaining the vet's role: If applicable, reassure them that the vet did everything they could. Explaining that the process was peaceful, painless, and the kindest choice for a pet who couldn't get better can bring a lot of comfort.

Had such a great time hosting the team from Wellington City Funerals at our facility here yesterday!

We had a fantastic conversation about the future of aftercare and how the standards for both human and pet farewells are evolving. It was definitely a proud moment to show industry experts our water cremation technology in action, and to discuss the growing demand for gentle, eco-friendly options in our community, for both 2-legged and 4-legged loved ones.

Thank you to Stu and Mary for taking the time to visit and for sharing such great insights. It is always inspiring to connect with local professionals who care so deeply about dignified and compassionate farewells. Your client families are in such wonderful hands with the years of experience you both bring to their lives.
