Fancy a good fundraising "pay it forward/kind deed" type moment?
As many of you know I love a doing a good deed, and you may have often heard me say "just pay it forward when you can" if you have received actions, advice or things out of kindness from us here at Dinky dogz.
I'd now like to do a great kindness to help out a fellow business owner, Natalie, from Little Wags in Porirua, who is frantically fundraising to get her 16 year old daughter, Sienna, to Japan at the end of the year by posting on our page to help this happen.
Some of my boarding customers use Natalie's service for day care and know she is friendly, willing to help and is the first person to put her hand up to assist in any form of crisis. She did in fact do this a few years ago for us when I was hospitalised with my heart and Alan need to go and see his elderly mother who was also in hospital. Natalie dropped everything to come and look after whichever dogs were here for a couple of hours for us, thankfully it was in the holidays when she wasn't open for business.
Now Sienna is not your bog standard kid, she is neurodivergent with accompanying high anxiety and confidence issues. The opportunity to do this exchange will boost her self esteem and confidence while being with a small group of trusted like minded caring people. Sienna is a creative artsy type girl who has been recently commissioned by several people to bring their dogs to life by painting them. The results are pretty jolly good too from what I have seen.
Anyways ... Both Alan and I have contributed and we hope that some of you will also be able to open your wallet and hearts to help Sienna get to Japan.
There is a fund raising givealittle page titled "Help Sienna get to Japan" where you can contribute, or even directly to the following account 06 0549 0663880 00 under the name of Natalie McCarthy. If anyone is wanting to chat to Natalie to ask questions, then she can be found on face book under "Little Wags". I am sure she would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
A total of $8000.00 is required, breakdown of costs are on the givealittle page, before August so this is a little time sensitive. The Japan experience is set to happen in December.
So, do you feel like doing a pay it forward/good deed, and help Sienna navigate her way in the world and come back a more confident young lady?
I really hope you can help ...
Michelle and Alan
