Soft Paws Cat Sitter

Soft Paws Cat Sitter I am a qualified animal carer with certificates in pet care and behaviour. I do more than just feeding. message me today 😻

If you have been wanting to take a break but not keen on putting your fur baby into a cattery, I can help! I am an experienced and qualified cat lover that can come to your home to care for your cat when you are not able to be there. As part of my visit I can clean litterboxes, feed your cat, have play time, empty your mailbox, water plants, put out bins, and open and close your curtains so your

home doesn't appear vacant while you are away. I may be able to do other tasks for you while I am there, just ask :)
I have a current clean criminal record check to provide you which I request every few months for your peace of mind. I take the safety and security of your home seriously, and do not have anything that identifies me as a pet sitter so your neighbours don't know you aren't home. I will work with you to set up visits that will work best for you and your cat and will also provide photos by email or text updates. I understand cats and know when they don't want any attention, or if they need a lot. I am also experienced in administering medication if required - there is no extra cost for this. I also have my New Zealand Certificate in animal care. I am available to visit your home in the wider Wellington area, outside of Wellington City may incur travel costs. If you are interested in meeting me or discussing further then please give me a call or email me at [email protected]. A complimentary introduction visit to discuss your requirements is available before you make a decision to book me to look after your cat. Pricing
• One cat for one visit per day $25 - $5 extra per additional cat
• One cat for two visits per day $40 - $5 extra per additional cat
There is no extra charge for administering medication or cleaning the litter trays. Other small pets will be considered, but if I'm not confident I can care for them, I will let you know. Cancellation Policy
As soon as you have a made a booking with me, it is possible I may decline further bookings to ensure I don't over-commit. Last minute bookings and changes can be discussed, as I understand our current environment can be quite disruptive. If you wish to cancel your booking, you can do so for free unless I have already left to visit your cat. If the booking is cancelled while I am at the visit, you will still be charged for that visit. Cancellation fees apply at Christmas time if cancelled within 7 days or less of your booking.

🌿 Pet Connection & Mental Health 🐾

Today in my Pet Grief Counselling course, I came across something truly fascinating—and heartwarming.

Did you know that spending time with a beloved pet actually changes your brain chemistry? 💞 Studies show that petting, watching, or simply being around a familiar animal boosts oxytocin (the “feel-good” hormone that helps with bonding) and lowers cortisol (the stress hormone).

This soothing effect helps explain why animals can have such a powerful impact on our mental health—especially for those navigating depression, anxiety, or loneliness.

It’s a beautiful reminder of the deep and healing bond we share with our furry companions. 🐶🐱

I looked after trio Patrick, Peter and Poppy a few weeks ago and only Patrick appreciated my love 😂
His siblings weren't impressed that some stranger was preparing their food so they were long gone before my visits. I was reassured by their cat parents that they returned immediately once they realised I was gone and slept with them the whole night 😂 so here are some photos of the gorgeous Patrick 😻

***More exciting news to share***
I have been accepted into a Certified Course to Become a Grief Coach for Pet Loss.

In my 3 years of cat sitting I have sadly been exposed to a lot of pet loss. I feel it so much for the fur families, and I want to be able to offer that little bit more support.

Physically, grieving individuals can experience severe fatigue, sleep disorders (insomnia, nightmares), loss of appetite, or various pains (headaches, muscle tension, palpitations). The body expresses what words sometimes struggle to say. These symptoms are linked to stress and emotional distress caused by loss. They require being attentive to basic needs: eating even without appetite, resting even without sleep, moving even without energy.

No everyone understands this pain, and I've experienced it myself. I hope that this new qualification will benefit many owners.

Stay tuned for updates as I start to learn this new skill.
