When Ella started gagging and struggling to keep her food down, her family brought her into our Papamoa clinic to get checked over.

After a thorough examination, Vet Jessica discovered the cause of the problem - a surprisingly long blade of grass that had found its way into Ella's nasal passage.

Once it was safely removed, Ella was much more comfortable and able to head home with her family to continue her recovery. 😊🐱

Dental disease is one of the most common health issues we see in pets and many animals hide the pain surprisingly well. 🦷🐾

In a recent case, this dog had an extreme build-up of tartar covering the remaining teeth. Unfortunately, the dental disease was so advanced the teeth could not be saved and all had to be removed for the dog’s health and welfare.

Bad breath, drooling, difficulty eating or preferring soft food can all be signs something isn’t right. Regular dental care can help prevent painful infections and more serious health problems later on.

If you have concerns about your pet’s dental health, give us a call on 0800 838 7267.

Jekyll’s fresh start! After an accident left him with a badly injured leg, 10-month-old Jekyll arrived needing urgent care. Following assessment and X-rays, the decision was made to amputate the affected leg to give him the best chance at a comfortable, active future.

The surgery went smoothly, and just hours later Jekyll was already up and moving around on three legs. After an overnight stay at the clinic, he was able to head home to continue his recovery with his family. 💙

We're so pleased to see Jekyll on the road to a happy, healthy future. Read his full story on our website: https://bopvets.co.nz/customer-story/jekylls-fresh-start-after-a-tough-accident/

Please join us in welcoming (back) Vet Anna Mackenzie !🐾

Anna will be joining our Mount clinic later this month as our lovely vet Dana heads off on maternity leave. A little about Anna... A Massey University graduate, Anna has spent the past 10 years in companion animal veterinary practice, including time with Tauranga Vets and working in the United Kingdom before returning home to the Bay of Plenty. Many of our wonderful clients may already recognise her from her time at our Mount clinic while vet Aisling was also on maternity leave.

Anna has a special interest in small animal medicine, emergency and critical care, geriatric medicine, and diagnostics. She is also Fear Free Certified and passionate about making vet visits as calm and stress-free as possible!

Outside of the clinic, Anna is a proud Arataki local who loves running, hiking, and spending time with her two whippets and rescue cat, Mango! 🐾🐱
