Comcol Equine We provide equine courses.
​​Live and breathe horses with our experienced equine tutor in Rangiora.

A comprehensive and hands-on programme providing students with a solid grounding in both the practical day-to-day care and keeping of horses and a theoretical knowledge of horse management. The programme covers:

- Equine care and equine health
- Equine industry skills and equine industry knowledge
- Equitation (including horse riding skills)

Qualifications offered:

- New Zealand Certificate in

Equine Skills (Level 2)
- New Zealand Certificate in Equine Skills (Level 3)
- Opportunity to complete NCEA level 1 & 2
- Literacy and Numeracy support

Amanda Scott-Richards (Equine Sports Massage Therapist) demonstrating massage techniques to Rangiora High School international students during equine studies. The students then tried the techniques for themselves on the Comcol horses. Thanks Amanda for taking the time to do this, it was much appreciated. Everyone loved the session. Especially Brody, making the most of the attention from the students after his massage. 🙂

Equine Tutor Liv Logan arranged for our Rangiora High School equine internationals and Equine Career Link participants to visit Rangiora Racecourse for LoveRacing NZ's Careers Day. Here they learnt about the different careers associated with the thoroughbred racing industry, in the saddle, on the ground, and away from the track. 'Careers in Racing' sparked a lot of interest and questions around the different opportunities available in the industry. Everyone had the opportunity to watch track work, then try the simulator to get the feel of riding at speed in a racing saddle, and came away with an appreciation of the strength, fitness, and skill involved. Many thanks to Brigitte Corban (LOVERACING.NZ), Al Browne (Al Browne Racing ), Robyn Mauger (Mitavite NZ and Hygain New Zealand ) and Vic (in charge of keeping people safe on the track) for a great morning. We learnt a lot. 🙂

We provide a FREE Youth Service for 16-19 year- olds offering guidance and support to help young people into education, training, work based learning and more.

​​​Our focus is on supporting our taiohi/young people into education, training and work-based learning- but we do much more. Our youth coaches provide intensive, tailored support to identify their goals and find the best path to reach them.
