OK guys, we all ride here. This is such an opportunity to contribute to a shared trail which we can mix and match where we go. If we get in now with submissions, we have a chance to include horses. Sit back, and maybe not so. I know these 'Have your Say' and submissions are frequent, but if we don't spent those few minutes every time, we miss out. And we all love Whangateau ......

It's been a while since we posted despite having our weekly lessons with Kim and fortnightly (or more) with Jo throughout Winter. Today was great fun at Matakana Country Park - the jumps went down a wee bit for us (!) and it was fab having a lesson somewhere new with spooky corners and plenty of distractions. Jo will be doing another one there next Friday (31st July) if anyone wants to join a session - comment on the MPC Jo chat :)

And another year that will be fun - why do Naomi Marshall and I do this without our kids there and share our horses? Small club, big heart. Happy horses, happy riders. If you have a horse you think you can loan once a week for rally (Wednesday 5.30 Sept - April), please consider this option and give kids without a horse an opportunity - I guarantee you, the smiles from everyone is worth it!

Hi guys - the more people that feed back, the greater our voice. It really only takes a few minutes and MEAG have given suggested answers :)

Local board plans are open for consultation until Thursday 23 July 2026. Unfortunately, horses have only been mentioned on multi-use parks page 12 (where applicable) and perhaps not a significant part of the community despite having one of the highest equestrian numbers in the country.
As MEAG, we have already completed a questionnaire, presented and liased with the Regional Parks, Local Board - all are super positive towards horses. But the plan does not reflect this. We are volunteers, so feedback from you is very appreciated to help us!
We encourage you to take part in the ‘Have Your Say’ survey and make our Equestrian voices heard - it will take you around 5 mins.
There will be more times later to step up for further feedback - but let them hear us now, more people, more sports and definitely more equestrians.

We managed to avoid the rain mostly this morning! Just a note that there a tree down and gravel pile so park with others in mind when we do Adult Rides at TF 😀

Loads of adults ask about where they can learn to ride or reconnect to riding ... fabulous opportunity with school masters and an amazing instructor.

Adult riders - we have several spaces both during the day and in the evening for adult riders returning to the saddle on our fantastic schoolmasters. Great for establishing solid foundations, growing your knowledge and building connections with likeminded community!
