I thought I better give an update on Diego:
What can I say: HE IS AMAZING!!!
Last weekend he met the big guns at the Border Collie walk. He was very good meeting all these dogs and walk along the river where he had never been. He listened to every recall - of course he was on the lose - and was just one super behaved 'little' sweetheart.
We also met other dogs of course all different shapes and sizes and Diego liked them all and said 'Hello'
There was not one bark - a pretty good effort for a Huntaway I think 🥰
And then he was tired 😴

Dear Atticus found a new home and a very nice one. He is a Mainlander now. He traveled really well and even the ferry trip didn't face him. He is a very lucky dog but he deserves it.

Diego went to town yesterday to meet a white fluffy little dog. Wasn't too sure what he would think about that but he liked him straight away. Despite the fact that the little guy was a bit grumpy for starters. Diego was a real gentleman and gave him time and then they got on really well. Diego even mastered a walk through town with busy traffic and people walking pass. He's such an honest dog, couldn't get better 🥰

With a very heavy heart I put up this post:
Atticus is a lovely 3.5-year-old Heading Dog that needs to be rehomed because his owner has decided to move overseas.
Atticus grew up on a farm but when he was about 1 year old his then owner handed him over to the SPCA because he was unwilling to work. After a short stay he was adopted from his current owner.
Atticus is very affectionate and he’s very attached to the people who love him and he loves them back 100%.
Atticus is good with other dogs and stock.
As he grew up on a farm and has lived rural, he is not accustomed to towns or busy roads .
Atticus is not a high energy dog, but he needs daily exercise and adequate stimulation.

Diego had a very busy day today. Between playing with my team and trying to make sure that these sheep are all under control he's now exhausted 😅

Hello everyone, I would like to introduce my new foster child;
The handsome DIEGO a HuntawayX. He's about 2 years old but appears to be younger. He is very playful and puppyish in a very nice way.
He has been with me now for 2 1/2 weeks and he's doing really well. Having his shocking past in mind (being tied up all his life and other really cruel things) he is very friendly and trusting. he follows ne around everywhere and I mean everywhere - bathroom included. This dog has no bad bone in his body.
In this very short time I have achieved so many things with him, I don't know where to start: toilet trained, recall, sit, down, give a toy when asked, barking under control (almost) ..........
He is very interested in my sheep and displays the most beautiful Huntaway behaviour and if directed into the right direction his working instinct is very manageable.
He has energy to burn and enjoys to run with my team across the property. He likes girls better - who wouldn't???- but gets on with my male too
I think he is a future superstar - the perfect dog to adopt in my view plus he's sooo handsome. Please contact SPCA Kerikeri if you are interested.

Enzo my SPCA foster pup left for new adventures today. His new owner picked him up after puppy class. 😢
He will continue to come to Puppy Class so I get to see him again 🥰
I am sure he will have a fantastic life with his new owners and canine friends.
On his last day he of course had to finally destroy his toy 🥳
