*Duke urgently needs our help*

Duke has been in the pound for over 3 months now and we need to get him out into a permanent/foster home asap.

Duke’s 7/8 months old, a Rottweiler mix, currently medium in size but still has time to grow.
He’s a friendly, affectionate boy who loves being by his people’s side, so we’re looking for a home where he can be part of the family, sleep indoors and not be left on his own for long periods.
He gets on well with the other dogs at the pound but will try to hump, so he works best with a dog that can tell him off, and he seems to listen well.
As he’s still entire and tries to hump, we don’t think he’d suit a home with another entire male.
Once interest comes in for Duke he will be des*xed, but that won’t change all his tendencies overnight.
We don’t know what Duke is like with cats, but he’s young and smart enough to learn how to behave around them, so a home with a confident cat is possible.

Duke needs work on his manners as he will occasionally jump up when excited and hasn’t spent much time on a lead, so he’ll need a family that can commit to giving him the training he needs.
He is smart and loves food, so that should help with training.

Duke used to escape his previous property a lot, so he will need to go somewhere with secure fencing.

We unfortunately can’t save every dog, and there are dogs getting put down in pounds all around the country every single day.
It’s a very sad industry to be involved in, and most days can be very challenging.
People will take on dogs without much thought, so please if you’re wanting to take on a dog, make sure you have the time, property and funds to be able to give a dog the life it deserves.
It’s a life long commitment, if you can’t give a dog that then please don’t get one.
If you know you can provide a dog with everything it needs then check out your local pound or rescue and save a life ❤️

As with every dog that comes through the rescue, there is a cost to adopt, which is to cover des*xing and vaccinations.

If you’re interested in giving Duke his forever home, or think you could foster, then send us a message.
He’s located in the Waikato area.

*Kōwhai and Leo urgently need our help*

Thank you for all the likes, shares, comments and offers to adopt and foster Vinnie.
And a big thank you to the amazing foster family who helped get him out of the pound.
He left today to start his new life with his forever family ❤️

We now have two new dogs who we need to get out of the pound before the weekend..

Kōwhai 💛

11 months old, female, mix breed and small to medium in size.

It’s hard not to love Kōwhai, she’s one of the most affectionate dogs I have met, has a gentle nature and plays nicely with every dog she meets.
It does take her some time to feel comfortable with people, and is nervous and shy initially, but once that trust is built she’s got lots of love to give.
She’s picked up commands quickly and walks nicely on a lead.

We think Kōwhai would be happy in a home with another dog, with a family that can give her the attention and love she deserves, and somewhere where she’s not left on her own for long periods.
She hasn’t been tested with cats.

Leo 💙

3 years old, male, staffy x, and medium to large in size.

This very handsome boy is struggling with pound life, he is a happy and social boy and needs to be somewhere he’s not locked away or left on his own for long periods.
He gets on well with other dogs and we feel like a home with a female dog would suit him.
Leo is very strong and would need an owner who can handle that strength.
A family with older kids who are experienced around dogs would be fine, and we’ve been told Leo would need a home without cats.

If you’re interested in adopting or fostering Kōwhai or Leo then send us a message.
They are located in the Waikato area.

*Vinnie urgently needs our help*

First of all I’d like to thank everyone who has liked, shared and commented on our recent urgent posts, it really helps give these dogs a bigger audience and increases their chances of finding a home ❤️

Unfortunately with how things are going in this country, every post is now an urgent one.
Pounds and rescues are overflowing, there’s so many people getting a dog without much thought, failing that dog, and then getting a new dog and repeating the same mistakes. It’s easily the worst I’ve ever seen it.

Vinnie is the latest dog who needs our help 💙
He’s a Sharpei x, roughly 5 months old and is currently small to medium in size, but is still growing.

Vinnie hasn’t had an easy start to life, he’s come from physically abusive owners and then ended up at the pound. Thankfully this hasn’t broken this happy boys spirit, and he’s been social and confident with every person and dog that he has met.
He’s still a youngster so he will need ongoing training, but he picks things up quickly and loves food.

Vinnie would suit a home with another dog, but would be fine as a solo dog in a home where he’s not left on his own for long periods. He hasn’t been tested with cats but he’s been around kids and there’s been no issues.

If you can commit to giving Vinnie a home for life, have the time and patience to give him ongoing training and lots of love, then send us a message.
Vinnie is based in the Waikato area.

So many nice, rehomable dogs are getting put to sleep because there’s either no space, or not enough homes looking to adopt pound/rescue dogs.
If you have a home that is suitable for having a dog, are prepared to give that dog everything it needs to stay safe and healthy, the time and patience to train it and keep it social, then please look at the dogs at your local pounds.

**Jake & Jade urgently need our help**

Thank you for all the likes, shares, and offers to foster and adopt for our last two pound dogs Donny and Ace.
We received a lot of interest in both and every like and share helps so much, it gives the dogs a bigger audience and increases their chances in finding a home.

We now have two more young dogs who have been in the pound too long and time is running out for them.

Jake(left) and Jade(right) are both mix breeds,
both between 10-12 months old and are medium in size.
Jake is playful and social, gets on well with all the other dogs at the pound and is a smart boy.
We think he’d suit a home with older kids, and with a family that can give him daily walks.

Jade has proven she is great with all types of dogs.
She is frequently used to see how the new adoption dogs react to new unfamiliar dogs at the pound.
Jade’s a very social girl who just wants to play with all the other dogs but can read cues from other dogs who may be feeling less confident.
Jade has been great around kids but is inexperienced with cats, but with an experienced owner and a confident cat, this could be worked on.

Please have a good think about it before you offer to foster or adopt.
That you have the time, property and patience to give them everything that they need.
Jake and Jade have spent too much of their young lives in the pound, and we want to make sure they don’t end up back there.

If you’re interested in fostering or adopting then send us a message 💙
Both are located in the Waikato area.

**We’ve found a home for Ace 💙 thank you for all your help**

**Ace urgently needs our help**

It was amazing to see the interest that Donny got when we did a similar post for him before Christmas.
Donny joined his new family just after Christmas and is loving life in his new home.
Now I’m hoping for something similar for this handsome guy..

Ace is in the pound and his time to find a home is running out.
We urgently need to find him a foster or permanent home before the end of the week.
I know after Donny’s post there are a lot of people out there with big hearts, so many people offered to foster or adopt, which was amazing.
And I know a lot of people will want to save Ace too, but please make sure you are in a position to take on a dog, have a property that will keep him safe and secure, and have the time to give him everything that he needs.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who get a dog without much thought, and that is a big reason the pounds are so full.
We want this to be Ace’s last experience of the pound.

Ace is around a year and a half, a mix breed, and medium in size.
We haven’t been able to test him with cats yet, but that can be done if needed.
He’s been good around female dogs, but as he’s currently an entire male, he hasn’t been tested with other males yet. For this reason we wouldn’t want him going to a home with another entire male, but a home with a placid, des*xed male could be an option.
We can test him with some des*xed males to make sure.
Ace has shown he’s quite a calm and chilled dude, but as he’s still young I’m sure there’s a playful side to him too.
He’s affectionate, well mannered and seems to be a smart boy too.

If we can find him his forever family then that would be perfect, but a foster home would be a life saver too.
We would supply everything you need if you were to foster, and once we know we can get him out the pound we will get him booked in for des*xing.

If you’re interested in adopting or fostering then send us a message 💙

**Donny urgently needs our help**

Donny has been in the pound for a long time now, and with no interest his time is running out.
It’s a sad reality for dogs in pounds across the country, pounds everywhere are at capacity, and there are so many dogs in similar positions to Donny.
Too many nice dogs aren’t getting their chance of a better life, to know what it’s like to be loved and wanted, and instead their short, sad time in our world ends with them getting put to sleep.
All our pounds work differently and I’d never put blame at their door.
The dogs that are in the pounds who don’t get claimed are there because their people have failed them.
We have a huge problem over here with people getting a dog without much thought or for the wrong reasons, I follow most of the pound and rescue pages on here and it’s really sad how many unwanted dogs are out there.

That issue is not going to be fixed any time soon, but for Donny he still has a chance.

Donny is around 10/11 months old, a huntaway mix, and medium in size.
He entered the pound with little to no training, he’s picked some up over time but still needs work on a few things.
He’s been good with female dogs, but hasn’t spent much time with other male dogs.
Untested with cats but if there’s a home out there for him that has a cat, then we can find out what he’s like.
He’s been good around kids but older kids would be best.

The rescue is based in Hamilton but I will drive him to any corner of New Zealand if it means getting him out of the pound, so you don’t have to be local to be considered.

Even though it’s getting desperate, please only come forward if you have given it a lot of thought and you have the time and home to be able to help Donny.
If you, or anyone you know, can provide Donny his forever home, or can foster him whilst I search, then please send me a message.

He’s a nice boy, and deserves better than what he’s experienced so far ❤️

*Foster Homes needed*

We have dogs who need to get out of the pound asap but we’re currently short on foster families.
It’s as bad as it’s ever been at the moment and the dogs really need our help.

If you’re interested in fostering then please send us a message, we supply everything you need and will give you the advice and training needed to properly care for the dog.

Ideally you would be based in the Hamilton area but we are happy to have people from further afield if it means we can get the dogs out of the pound.

Looking after a dog is a big commitment so please think it through and make sure you have the time and property to properly care for a dog.
Every dog we take on has different needs, some cant be housed with cats, others work better with the opposite s*x etc,
so we will make sure we place each dog in a home that suits yours and their needs best.

*Below is our rescue dog South, who has been with us for a while now and is still looking for his forever family.
South is deaf but his foster mum has put an amazing amount of work into him.
I’ll be doing a new post for him soon, but his previous posts are available on our page if you’d like to know more about him 💙*

South 📸

Our handsome boy had his very own photoshoot with Dog&Co. Pet Photography at Riverhead Forest.

South is very smart and a quick learner, so even though he’s deaf, his foster mum has done a great job teaching him sit, down, roll over and gives him a hand signal to tell him he’s been a good boy 🤟🏻

He loves going off on adventures with his foster mum on the weekends, he’s an active boy and would make a great hiking buddy.
South is very social, friendly with every person he meets and is great with other dogs 💙

South’s roughly 2 and a half years old, a mix breed and medium to large in size.
He’s registered with council for the new year, microchipped, fully vaccinated and will be des*xed soon.
He didn’t get any interest from his first post, but I know once someone comes to meet him they will love him just as much as we do.

If you’re interested in meeting South then send us a message ✌🏻

Scarlet ❤️

Just like her brother Rogue, our beautiful Scarlet is still not getting any interest 🤯

I’ve been fostering Scarlet myself and she’s the easiest puppy I’ve had at home with me, so smart, picks up training quickly, very friendly with every person and dog she meets, gets along nicely with my cats and gentle with my 5 year old son.

Scarlet’s 5/6 months old, a mixbreed and will likely grow to be medium to large in size.
She’s registered with council for the new registration year, microchipped, fully vaccinated and will be des*xed at a later date.

If you’d like to meet Scarlet then send me a message, she’s with me in Hamilton.

Rogue 🖤

How is that face not getting any attention?

We are still looking for Rogue’s forever family.
He’s been with the rescue for a couple months now and even though he’s been one of the easiest pups I’ve had through the rescue, I’d love to find him a home soon.

He’s such a good natured boy, friendly with every person and animal he has met and is really well behaved around my 5 year old son.
He and his siblings were handed in to the pound at a young age, and I’ve heard that they are a very smart litter, and Rogue is no different.
He loves his food and is so easy to train, he walks beautifully on a lead and is so gentle taking treats.

Rogue’s now 5/6 months old and a mixbreed.
He’s a bit bigger than his siblings, he’ll likely grow to be large in size.
He’s registered with council for the new registration year, microchipped, fully vaccinated and will be des*xed at a later date.

If you’d like to meet Rogue then send me a message, he’s currently being fostered in Hamilton.
