As we approach our Easter weekend, it's important to remember your fur babies can't enjoy Easter the same way as us -- so here's what to look out for, and how you can make a dog friendly Easter for the family.

Chocolate eggs and bunnies will be ruling our world this weekend. While your kids are running around searching for them, some of our dogs might become quite the scavenger too.

When it comes to all things food this weekend, we have to take measures to ensure our dogs aren't ingesting things they can't. Chocolate is a big no-no -- the cocoa it contains, the more toxic it is to our dogs. Unfortunately things like artificial sweeteners, and raisins are also toxic and can cause internal damages - so no hot cross buns for them.

It's recommended to not leave food out on benchtops where they could reach, unsupervised, and to remember to put your leftovers in the bin. I know some of our dogs have a bad track record of getting into the bins too, so be mindful of that too!

If your dog HAS eaten something they shouldn't have - call your vet ASAP and give them details about the situation and your dog like how much your dog weighs, what they've eaten and how much you estimate them eating.

You might benefit from having a secure or seperate space/room for your dog with some toys if they get overwhelmed by all the activity, or while everyone is eating and food is being prepared. However, if you feel like your dog might be getting FOMO and you want to include them in your activities, you could do a hunt with soft toys that kids and dogs can turn in for treats.
