A 4-year-old female Pug was presented to our hospital with the owner's complaint of haematuria. Diagnostic imaging, including X-ray and ultrasound, revealed a significant amount of bladder stones.
Laboratory results showed:
Hematocrit (HCT): 24%
Creatinine: 3.2 mg/dL
BUN: 45 mg/dL
Urine culture: Escherichia coli (E. coli) isolated, with sensitivity only to Amikacin and resistance to 19 other antibiotics.
Following stabilization, a cystotomy surgery was successfully performed to remove the calculi. The patient is currently recovering well under our care.
