Researchers in the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Maryland, United States, conducted a test on mice with F11, a human monoclonal antibody. The mice were infected with the rabies virus, and then given a single dose of F11. Over 67% of the mice who received the F11 on day five survived, while 50% of mice that received the dose on day seven survived. The untreated mice succumbed to the virus. Could this be the path to a future rabies cure? Let’s hope so!

मेरीलँड, युनायटेड स्टेट्समधील युनिफॉर्म्ड सर्व्हिसेस युनिव्हर्सिटी ऑफ हेल्थ सायन्सेसमधील संशोधकांनी F11 या मानवी मोनोक्लोनल अँटीबॉडीवर उंदरांवर चाचणी केली. उंदरांना रेबीज विषाणूची लागण करून F11 चे एकच डोस देण्यात आले. पाचव्या दिवशी F11 मिळालेल्या उंदरांपैकी ६७% पेक्षा अधिक जिवंत राहिले, तर सातव्या दिवशी डोस मिळालेल्या उंदरांपैकी ५०% जिवंत राहिले. जे उंदीर उपचाराशिवाय होते, ते रेबीजमुळे मृत्यूमुखी पडले. हे भविष्यातील रेबीजवरील उपचाराचे मार्ग असू शकते का? आशा करूया!

Celebrated on the last Saturday of April, the day highlights the role of veterinarians in safeguarding the health of animals, humans, and the environment. This year’s theme, “Animal Health Takes a Team,” emphasises the value of teamwork in veterinary care.

उत्कर्ष अ‍ॅनिमल हॉस्पिटल्सच्या संपूर्ण टीमला जागतिक पशुवैद्य दिनाच्या हार्दिक सदीच्छा! प्राणी कल्याण आणि मानवी आरोग्यासाठी त्यांनी दिलेल्या मोलाच्या योगदानाची आम्ही मनापासून दखल घेतो. एप्रिल महिन्यातील शेवटच्या शनिवारी साजरा केला जाणारा हा दिवस, पशुवैद्यकीय व्यावसायिकांनी प्राणी, मानव आणि पर्यावरण यांचे आयोग्य संरक्षणासाठी केलेल्या कार्याचे महत्व अधोरेखित करतो.

Utkarsh Rabies Mukti Mission vaccinated over 62 animals, including cats and dogs, in various drives in Ambernath on April 19, 2025. Locations include Chhatrapati Shivaji Vegetable Market, Police Petrol.Pump in Ambernath West, Metal.Nagar, Kailash Nagar, and adjoining areas.

We are grateful to Shri Suhas Sawant Ji, Officer from Ambernath Municipal Council for expert guidance and also thank Shri Santosh Londhe ji - Sanitary Officer of Ambernath Municipal Corporation, whose active participation contributed to the success of the campaign.

उत्कर्ष रेबीज मुक्ती मिशनच्या माध्यमातून १९ एप्रिल २०२५ रोजी अंबरनाथ येथे श्वान आणि मांजर यांसह एकूण ६२ हून अधिक प्राण्यांचे लसीकरण केले. छत्रपती शिवाजी भाजी मार्केट, अंबरनाथ पश्चिम येथील पोलीस, पेट्रोल पंप, मेटल नगर, कैलास नगर आणि लगतच्या परिसरात ही लसीकरण मोहीम राबवण्यात आली.

या लसीकरण मोहिमेच्या यशस्वीतेसाठी मार्गदर्शन करणारे अंबरनाथ नगर परिषदेचे अधिकारी श्री. सुहास सावंत यांचे मन:पूर्वक आभार. तसेच, सक्रिय सहभागासाठी अंबरनाथ नगर परिषदेचे स्वच्छता विभाग अधिकारी श्री. संतोष लोंढे यांचेही विशेष आभार.
