Our small family business, now in the 2nd generation was started by Neasa’s dad Dieter in 1969! While working with the Irish Tourist Board in Frankfurt, Dieter realised he wanted to share with his growing family the rural Irish childhood experiences he had enjoyed growing up.
Legend has it this lightbulb moment happened when his eldest daughter complained about having to hike across a muddy wet field. From that moment the decision was made to move to the Irish countryside to reconnect with nature and Clissmann Horse Caravans was born.
With city life a distant memory and the family growing to a total of 6 kids and more and more animals, everyone mucked in and Neasa’s mum Mary took the reins and drove the business to what it is now! She will forever be remembered by family and guests alike for the warmest of welcomes and her infectious smile.
Where we are going
As the longest established Horse Drawn Caravan Operator in Ireland, we are incredibly proud and committed to continuing the ethos and traditions of our family business.
We have been joined on this family journey by a wonderful team who have played a starring role in our story every step of the way. They are knowledgeable, friendly, creative and passionate and they inspire us to keep developing new ideas and new adventures.
After memorable travels of our own and having taken over the reins in 2011 we became fascinated by the idea of adding new holiday experiences where you can immerse yourself in nature, reconnect with those that matter most and reignite your childhood sense of adventure.
Our dreams have become reality and we have taken great pride and joy designing and crafting our glamping gypsy caravans which we are excited to share it with you!
