We are delighted to announce that before the final close of entries on Friday 15th August, Oliver Townend entered Cooley Rosalent for this year’s Defender Burghley.

Oliver is, of course, a three-time Burghley winner, who has nine CCI5* victories to his credit in total.

Cooley Rosalent, an 11-year-old mare owned by Paul and Diana Ridgeon, was the Defender Kentucky CCI5* champion in 2024.

Can she and Oliver win Burghley 2025? We can’t wait to find out!

The draw will take place later on today and be release tomorrow - Tuesday 19th August.

The British squad for the European Championships at Blenheim Palace this September has now been announced 🇬🇧 and we are absolutely thrilled that Its Cooley Time (Quality Time TN x Heartbreaker), ridden by Bubby Upton, has been selected to represent Great Britain .

We are also incredibly proud that Cooley Rosalent (Valent x Roselier), ridden by Oliver Townend, was long-listed but will now head to Burghley .

Alongside them, Cooley Mosstown (Celtic Hero BZ x Riverman), ridden by Caroline Harris, and Flash Cooley (CSF Mr Kroon x OBOS Quality), ridden by Gemma Stevens, also made the long list — all of whom have already had some serious results this season.

We couldn’t be prouder to see so many Cooley horses recognised at this level, representing one of the strongest nations in world eventing.

🥈Cooley Hot Socks continuing his great form with a 2nd in the Novice yesterday.

A lovely test and super double clear. Looking forward to our first 2* run in a few weeks.

Liscarrow Fernhill was also on brilliant form with a great 29.8 dressage and steady double clear.

Back to for MBF Redhouse Evoque in the Novice Champs and Kilcoltrim Cooley in the 2*L.
