Do you feel 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦 in your deep grief since losing your best furry friend?
As though 𝘯𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 around you gets it?
If yes, it’s not because your loss isn’t real. It's because society believes dogs 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 worth grieving over.
There's actually an official term for this kind of grief, it’s called 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟. Other examples are when a friendship ends or after losing a job.
These losses are not socially mourned, but that doesn’t make them 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘶𝘭 💔
I believe when disenfranchised grief occurs, people need to be supported by others who have gone through similar.
Now this doesn’t take the pain away, but it helps you understand that your feelings 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝟏𝟎𝟎% 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝.
So instead of trying to push through it, telling yourself to '𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘵’ I encourage you to honour 𝐚𝐥𝐥 that they mean to you.
For example a client of mine sprinkled flower seeds at a spot she enjoyed with her dog. To watch them blossom & grow as a symbol of healing.
It was a small gesture that meant 𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘳.
If you'd like to understand animal grief on a deeper level and how to navigate it in a healthy way, I invite you to watch my talk 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 & 𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞.
Where I share insights from my years of working in this field as I guided many animals beyond the veil.
And supported their pawrents through the inevitable 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 in their hearts.
It also gives practical advice, as I suggest healing remedies you can buy for yourself, for animals who are passsing and their fluffy friends who are left behind.
This talk is also a 𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭 to buy a friend who is currently going through this impossible time.
As often we can feel at a loss on how to help them, so let me do that 𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘧 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶.
