Tails and Trails

Tails and Trails I am a dog trainer and behaviour consultant, my passion is K9 fitness and adventure activities. We are retailers of high quality dog equipment.

I am a qualified dog trainer and have a special interest in canine fitness. I am also a qualified canine and human first aider. I have been working dogs in harness, both in Ireland and abroad, for 15 years, and ran a sled dog rescue for 7 years. I believe in and only use scientifically proven positive training methods. The classes I run include general obedience, scentwork, canicross and other s

led dog disciplines, as well as general dog fitness, such as core conditioning and body awareness. I also do one to one training and behaviour consultations in NW Ireland. I cover an area between Ballina and Dromore West for dog walking and daily visits. I also offer a wedding day service, if you would like your dog(s) to be part of your special day.

I have always loved football, when I was 11 I was banned from playing for the school team - girls shouldn't play football. I always had a ball at my feet, in from school, straight out to play football with my mates, if I went to the shop for my Mum, I took a ball. I've played on and off throughout adulthood. Yesterday I played for our local senior women's team aged 60. I came on as a late sub but got on the pitch and did OK, pleased with how I played. If you enjoy something, do it. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you're too old, not good enough, whatever. Live your life, not theirs. "We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing".

We had a fantastic weekend in Suffolk in the East of England at the inaugural 4 x Paws race. 4 runs over 3 days, 2 night time and 2 during the day. Olli did all 4 bikejore legs, while Diefer did all 4 DS2 with Tesha and Scully doing 2 each with him. We used it as a training weekend as it's so early in the season and all the dogs learnt things and did so, so well. Thank you yo for the amazing shots

Huge thanks to in Ballisodare for servicing Roscoe and building a new 29inch wheel set for him. He came with 27.5 semi-fat tyres which are fantastic when it's really muddy, but hard work when it's not. Now I can swap out the wheels according to conditions. Time to hook Olli up and get started on our speed training, so far this season we've just used the scooter to build strength and steady miles.

A box full of goodness. Delighted to get a delivery from full of natural goodness for the dogs. Bone Broth, Dental Powder, and my favourite - goats milk with pro and postbiotics. I put the goats milk in their water for hydration and also mix it with oats for a fantastic slow release energy boost and it's great to get some weight on Olli who is going through one of his regular "are you trying to poison me" phases and not eating properly.

I usually hold the Wild Atlantic Wag in Enniscrone in September. This year we're taking a year off, but will be back in 2026, possibly in the Spring rather than Autumn. We're chatting with the Ocean Sands Hotel about a few things, this great dog friendly hotel has always been huge supporters of the event. So keep your eyes peeled and we'll announce details as we finalise them.

In the meantime, we'll be holding a Mantrailing day on Sunday 24th August, if you'd like to join us, please let me know.
