**DIARY OPEN**

Hi guys, just a quick update, as most of you know I have been off on maternity leave after having our little girl Nell 🥹💕
This week I had a lot of messages regarding boarding & walks. I am now back open for home boarding & dog walking group walks will resume in April. Obviously working life has changed, so please get your dates in ASAP as I’m not overbooking this year.
I have a few weekends & holidays booked myself so please run it by me before booking holidays as I cannot guarantee boarding.

Anyone who wishes to resume dog walking in April, please send me a PM. For those who would like to join, I will add you to a waiting list and see if I can fit you in.

Unfortunately I am only taking small/medium dogs for walks, they must be well behaved in group walks, must have excellent recall, neutered, fully vaccinated & up to date with worm/flea treatment.

Dogs for Home Boarding (small/medium) must mix well with other dogs, be non destructive, be neutered, fully vaccinated including kennel cough & up to date with flea/worm treatments.

Once again, thank you for all the well wishes over the last few weeks, we feel incredibly blessed. Thank you to all my amazing clients who stayed with me over these last few months, who put off holidays and changed working schedules when I have been off, I appreciate it so much ❤️

I met my younger self today for a coffee. She was late, arrived flustered and a little shy. I was on time, but also flustered, as some things never change. She ordered a coke and I ordered a double shot latte, as I need all the caffeine I can get these days. Her phone bings, she gets a text from her boyfriend, I tell her we end up marrying him. She asks did we end up working in veterinary. I said we didn’t, but we do have a degree in vet nursing and we made friends for life from that course. I told her I have my own business minding animals, she smiled and thought that sounded nice. She’s still deciding on courses. She said she started fostering a bull breed puppy, but that it won’t be for long. I laugh, as I know we still have that “puppy” 13 years later & she was the best decision we made. She asks do I have horses, that she has two old boys she adores. I nod, I don’t have the heart to tell her they are not around anymore but we cared for them into their old age & they died a few days apart. I tell her I have three horses now, who always make me laugh. She tells me about her big group of friends, I tell her about my small group of friends that I think of as family. I ask her does she think about having kids, but she says she’s far too young yet. I finish up my coffee, and tell her I have to run as I have to get my roots done to cover the greys and collect my baby. She’s off to get a new outfit for her third night out this week.

I would like to take this chance in between feeds, baby snuggles and eating to wish all my clients a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

Going into my 14th year in business is amazing and I couldn’t have done it without the support of all my clients over the years. The kindness we also have received over the last few months as I navigated work and pregnancy & more recently the arrival of our little girl.

Thinking also about my clients who have lost their beloved pets in 2024, especially beautiful Mollie, Jessie and Lucy. They were coming to me for a very long time, and iv seen some go from pups to golden oldies. I know Christmas will be a sad time without them for their owners. I’m sure they will be getting a very big dinner in heaven 💔

I look forward to seeing you all in 2025 and wishing you a peaceful, happy and healthy Christmas & New Year.

Our beautiful little baby Nell arrived to the world yesterday. We are absolutely obsessed with her already and has us wrapped around her finger!! Thanks for all the well wishes, we are happy out in our little bubble!!!

Anyone know of anyone missing a Staffy/bull breed dog brown and white on the Glen road in Knocknarea. Was seen yesterday and again today on the road but very shy and hides when approached. Or is anyone willing to take him/her in for a few days out of this rain and storm? North West SPCA Ballina, Mayo IRL Leitrim Animal Welfare Centre

Male Labrador found in Rathcormack tonight. We have taken him in as he was sitting in the middle of the road and will be knocked down. Well fed, very friendly, only young. Anyone know who owns him? Please share. Fair play to the young lad Shane McDonagh who stopped & caught the dog, most would have just kept driving.

URGENT APPEAL

Does anyone recognise this little fella? 😺

This neutered male cat was found on the Strandhill area (Lecarrow) yesterday. No microchip. Very friendly.
He appears to have injuries that are consistent with a road traffic accident.

Anyone who has texted me should have got a reply this evening re dates. Apologies again but not taking on any new clients as I am absolutely chock a block with my own amazing regulars. If you haven’t received a reply please just send me a message incase it’s been missed.

Quick reminder again for vaccines inc kennel cough, worm, flea and tick treatments all to be up to date before their stays. All vaccines MUST be given at least three weeks before their stay with me. I won’t be able to be flexible on this.

Looking like a super busy year, with the busy season becoming longer and longer each year and no quiet time anymore so thanks again for always supporting me ❤️❤️❤️

💤I am taking off some dates myself, these are the ones booked so far, I will be booking off a few more days for horse shows etc so will update these as I know.

💉Please remember to check your vaccine cards and make sure your dogs are up to date with their vaccinations INCLUDING Kennel Cough. They have to had their Kennel Cough administered at least 3 weeks before their stay with me as it is a live vaccine & will shed. This is non negotiable. No dog will be allowed board if their vaccine was done less than three weeks prior. Can you also make sure all dogs are covered for their flea/tick treatments. Only get your flea/tick/wormers from your vets. The ones that are sold elsewhere are not strong enough, and also may have side effects for your dog, so ALWAYS best to seek veterinary advice.

⏰On a side note, can you please check times of flights etc when booking your dates with me & if flights are early morning/late evening home then book in the extra night at time of booking. It happened a lot last year that flights home wouldn’t be until late evening so dogs had to stay an extra night. This is normally fine, but during peak season this puts me under pressure as their then is a cross over of doggies.

Once again, thank you for always keeping me super busy. 13 years in business in April so I’m beyond proud at how far I have come. Big things will be coming for my little business in the next two years so can’t wait to share these with you all.

We are now under a weather warning for the whole of Ireland. Please be extra careful with your pets during this weather. Strong winds & heavy rain will batter us in the next few hours.

Your dog won’t die if it doesn’t get a walk today-play some interactive games inside, hide and seek, filled kongs, snuffle mats. This type of enrichment will wear out their minds. Lighting a fire in our house works wonders for engaging sleeping mode with the dogs 🤣 Put on the radio/tv for some background noise.

Winds can blow gates open, so if your letting your dogs outside please make sure all gates are closed before you let them out. Make sure they have their ID tags on them with your number incase they get lost. If you normally bring your dogs into a non enclosed area for toilet breaks, please put them on a secure lead. Dogs can get extremely worried in strong winds with all the noises associated with it. It’s not worth taking the risk.

Also those with livestock make sure fields are not flooded, so many fields and roads flooded already. Those of you who own Equines who are out with rugs on them, make sure that straps are secure & not allowing rugs to flap around. Check gates to fields and stable doors that they are closed properly. Equines, are very much flight animals, so they should have some access to some hay, this will keep them occupied & hopefully relax them and also warm them up.
