🌟 Happy Home Update – Peggy 🌟

Our lovely Peggy, a sweet lurcher girl who came into our care back in February, has now found her forever sofa, all thanks to the great teamwork between Deel Sighthound Rescue and our friends at Norfolk Greyhound Rescue in the UK. 💕

When Peggy first went into foster here in Ireland, it took her a little while to figure out that beds were for snoozing on, not just looking at! Once she relaxed, her playful and goofy side began to shine through, though she always kept a touch of shyness about her.

When she travelled to the UK, Peggy went into another foster home where she made a great pal in Ada – the two quickly became partners in crime and went everywhere together. Peggy also learned how lovely life can be: tucking into her dinners, exploring the garden, soaking up the sunshine, and wagging her tail happily whenever someone spoke to her. She adored the attention (and asking for more fuss!).

Now, Peggy has landed herself a wonderful forever home where she’s settled beautifully. She’s relaxed, happy, and has even discovered the joy of shredding up newspapers for fun. True to form, she’s also decided the human bed is much better than any dog bed could ever be. 🛏️💤

Peggy’s journey shows just how important fostering is. Every foster home gives our hounds the chance to learn, to relax, and to get ready for their forever families. Fostering really is invaluable – and we are always in need of new foster homes. Without them, happy endings like Peggy’s wouldn’t be possible. ❤️

Have a wonderful life, Peggy – you’ve well and truly earned it. 🐾

✨ Yesterday was a very special day for four of our beautiful sighthounds – Logan, Ricki, Trevor the greyhounds and little Fia, our very pretty lurcher girl.

There was great excitement for all of them, but especially for Trevor and Fia who had been waiting such a long time in kennels for this chance. We always feel very guilty when any of our dogs have to spend a long time in kennels. While we try our very best to get each dog into foster, sadly we just don’t have enough foster homes to give them all that comfort. So yesterday felt like a real celebration and a relief – the end of kennel life for Trevor and Fia, and the beginning of new adventures for all four.

Warm, loving homes and welcoming families now await them, and our hearts are full knowing the next chapter of their lives has begun.

We are, as always, deeply grateful to our wonderful rescue partners Pet levrieri ETS. Time and again they step in to find the most incredible families for Irish greyhounds who would otherwise have been killed, bred from or sold to God knows where, and for the countless lurchers suffering from neglect, hunger and abuse. Their work has given hundreds of Irish hounds a second chance – and yesterday was another reminder of the lives transformed thanks to them.

We wish Logan, Ricki, Trevor and Fia every happiness with their new families. May they all enjoy long, happy lives filled with love, safety and the comfort every dog deserves. 💕

Did you know that bees sleep between five and eight hours a day? What's even more interesting is that sometimes they sleep in flowers, holding onto each other’s feet while they rest. These fascinating creatures are more complex than many realize, and learning about them helps us appreciate their role in our gardens.

Bees are essential for pollination, which is crucial for the growth of many plants. Understanding their habits allows us to create environments that cater to their needs, ensuring our gardens thrive.

By planting bee-friendly flowers and supporting these tiny workers, you're doing your part to maintain a healthy ecosystem. 🐝🌸

This week, the Greyhound Board of Great Britain will be ‘showcasing’ licensed greyhound racing.
‘With activities aimed at families’ - promoting gambling to children.

We remember the greyhounds that have suffered and died for gambling entertainment, and thank the rescues who pick up after this dog killing industry.

💚 Huge thank you to the people of Loughill & surrounding areas who donated a whopping €288.50 at Sundays mass which was just absolutely brillant.

That’s the last of our church gate collections for the year and we want to thank most sincerely everyone who donated and Joan Sheey, Kathleen Fleming and their lovely mascot Clover who did every church gate this year and made the world of a difference towards our huge bills.

Thank you also to Val, Mike and lovely Loki who did Sundays Mass collection. 💚
