On no planet, and at no time, is greyhound racing safe for dogs. ๐
Greyhounds do love to run. They love to play, zoom around, stretch their legs and enjoy life. But they donโt love running when it means risking their lives.
They donโt love being injured.
They donโt love being frightened.
And they certainly donโt love dying.
This heartbreaking video shows the final moments of a beautiful dog whose life ended on a racetrack. ๐
And we have to ask ourselves โ would we accept this happening to any other breed of dog? Would we call it entertainment? Would we continue to fund it?
Ireland is increasingly becoming an outlier when it comes to greyhound racing. While countries around the world are recognising that racing puts dogs at unacceptable risk and are moving towards banning it, our government continues to financially support the industry.
And ultimately, that means taxpayersโ money is being used to support an industry in which thousands of innocent greyhounds die or disappear every year.
These are gentle, loving, incredibly affectionate dogs. They deserve warm beds, full bellies, safe homes and the chance to live their lives โ not to be treated as disposable athletes.
๐พ Donโt go greyhound racing.
๐พ Donโt support an industry that puts dogs at risk.
๐พ Please share this video and help raise awareness.
Their lives matter.
Their pain matters.
And their deaths should never be entertainment.
