Vets Aonghus Lane and Dana Simpson were delighted to speak at yesterday's Teagasc National Layer Conference 2026, where producers were given practical solutions on a number of topics.

Aonghus shared information on the importance of managing water on farm - including water hygiene systems and products we commonly recommend for layer flocks, and the benefits we see as a result.

Dana talked about the importance and benefits of a proactive versus reactive approach to flock management, and how this can support extending the laying cycle of hens.

A great day catching up with producers and other supporters of the industry!

At last week’s Signpost Poultry Event, held in Drogheda Co. Louth, vet Dana Simpson did a talk on practical biosecurity measures to reduce disease incursion, with a focus on avian influenza and Salmonella.

The event, organised by Teagasc and Belview eggs, focused on sustainability in the egg laying sector. Talks also covered topics including Carbon foot printing, solar panels and poultry manure usage as fertilizer for tillage.

We were pleased to attend Teagasc’s recent events, for broiler producers, where Lead Vet for Ireland Aonghus Lane also presented on two key topics during the conference: Maximising the microbiome of the bird for health and welfare, and on-farm biosecurity.

St David’s Poultry Team were pleased to present at another conference with Teagasc at the end of September, for broiler producers.

This week, in conjunction with Teagasc and the Irish Farmers' Association, we were pleased to be co-hosting a new conference in Co Cavan. Primarily for layer producers, it aimed to address some of the key priorities in the industry, now and over the next decade.
