🐾🦷 Dental Day for Dotty! 🦷🐾

We had the pleasure of welcoming sweet Dotty to Highfield Vets for her dental, and what a transformation it was! Check out her before and after photos to see the incredible difference in her pearly whites 😁

Regular dental care is vital for our furry friends, just like it is for us, to ensure they stay healthy and happy. Dotty was such a brave girl, and we’re thrilled to see her leave with a brighter smile and a wagging tail. 🐶✨

Remember, you can book your pet’s dental check online at www.highfield.ie. Also you can add a dental pack to any Highfield Pet Health Plan for only €12/month.

Let’s keep those smiles shining bright! 😁🐾

I’ve got someone looking to rehome a 10-year-old Yorkie because her owner has gone to a nursing home. The person she was rehomed to has lost their accommodation, and now she has nowhere to go from tomorrow. There are no known health issues. She’s nervous with new people and tends to snap at the groomers (and possibly at the vets). Just in case anyone has any ideas! She’s already contacted all the pounds and shelters.

Understanding Ear Mites in Your Pets

Seeing your furry friend uncomfortable is never easy. 🐾 Ear mites, tiny parasitic creatures that live in the ear canal, are a common issue that can cause your pet distress. These mites feed on the oils and wax in your pet's ears. Common signs of ear mites in pets include excessive scratching of the ears, head shaking, and dark discharge from the ears. 🐶😟

We've even captured some fascinating, albeit tiny, creatures under the microscope from one of our cat patients, and we’re sharing those videos with you. 🎥👀

If you suspect your pet might be affected, don't worry—ear mites are treatable. Our team is here to help guide you through the process, ensuring your pet gets back to feeling their best. For more information or to schedule a visit, feel free to reach out to us. 🐱❤️🐾

🐾✈️ How to Get an Pet Passport for Your Furry Friend! 🐶🐱

Getting a pet passport is a crucial step if you plan to travel abroad with your furry friend. Here are the simple steps to ensure your furry companion is ready for international travel:

🟢Visit Your Vet for the Pet Passport: Visit us well in advance of your trip.

🟢Microchipping: Your pet must be microchipped and registered on an Irish microchip database. This is a requirement for identification purposes. The microchip must be implanted before the rabies vaccine can be administered.

🟢Your Vet will issue your Pet’s Passport: Your vet will fill out the necessary details, including the microchip number, vaccination dates, and other essential health information.

🟢Rabies Vaccination: This vaccination must be done at least 30 days before travel. If your pet has had a rabies vaccination before, ensure it is still valid and that the booster shots are up-to-date.

🟢Additional Treatments (if required): Depending on the destination country, additional treatments such as tapeworm treatment may be required. Ensure you check the specific requirements for your travel destination and have these treatments recorded in the passport.

Please keep in mind that it is not the responsibility of your vet to know the rules for every country. The best course of action is to consult official resources, such as government websites well in advance of your trip.

With these steps, your furry friend will be all set for their adventure abroad! 🌍🐾 If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to drop by our clinic or give us a call. Safe travels! 🐶✈️🐱
