Monday got us feeling like... 😴💛

Did you know puppies can sleep anywhere from 18–20 hours a day while they're growing! All that snoozing helps support healthy brain development, growth and gives them plenty of energy for all those important puppy adventures in between naps.

If you've recently welcomed a new puppy into your family, don't forget to book them in for their health checks. Alongside their vaccinations, we offer complimentary nurse puppy development checks throughout their first year of life. These appointments are a great opportunity to monitor your puppy's growth, discuss nutrition, behaviour, parasite prevention, weight, and answer any questions you may have as they grow.

🐾 Meet Mikey & Fergs! 💙💙

These handsome brothers are always keeping life interesting! Whether they're busy chasing each other around, exploring every corner they can find, or getting up to a little mischief, these two are never far apart. They truly are the best of friends.

Despite their adventurous personalities, Mikey and Fergs are always incredibly relaxed when they visit us, making every trip to the clinic a pleasure. Most recently, they came in for their neutering procedure and we're delighted to say they both recovered beautifully.

A special thank you to their wonderful owners for taking such amazing care of these boys and always putting their health and wellbeing first. It's been a joy watching Mikey and Fergs grow and we can't wait to see what adventures they get up to next! ❤️

Double the fluff, double the fun! 🤍🐾

Lily and Mimi recently popped in for their complimentary nurse kitten check and they were absolute superstars! ✨

Our complimentary nurse puppy and kitten checks are available for all pets up to 1 year of age. During these visits, our nurses carry out a full health check, answer any questions about behaviour, nutrition and preventative healthcare, and make sure your little one has a positive, stress-free experience (with plenty of treats, of course! 😋).

Helping puppies and kittens build happy memories at the vet from an early age can make a huge difference, creating confident adult pets who are much more comfortable with handling and future vet visits. 💙

Goujon hopped in for a visit recently, and we have to say... that hairdo deserves its own fan club. 🐰💇‍♂️

Did you know rabbits are experts at hiding when they're unwell? That's why regular health checks are so important, they help us spot small problems before they become big ones. We also check things like teeth, weight and overall condition to keep your bunny feeling their best.

Not your usual Urban Vets patients! 🐹💚

Abarth and Valchiria recently paid us a visit for a nail clip and we couldn't resist sharing these adorable piggies with you.

Did you know that guinea pigs' teeth grow continuously throughout their lives? That's why a diet rich in hay is so important to help keep them worn down and healthy. They also can't produce their own vitamin C, so they need it provided in their diet every day.

Although we're not a specialist exotic practice, we're always happy to help with routine care for guinea pigs and other small pets, including nail clips, health checks, and first aid in the event of an emergency.

A collar can break. A tag can fall off.

But a microchip provides your pet with permanent identification that can help reunite them with you if they ever become lost.

💡 Here's the important part: a microchip only works if the contact details linked to it are up to date.

Have you:
✔ Changed your phone number?
✔ Moved house?
✔ Changed your email address?
✔ Rehomed a pet?

If so, it may be time to update your pet's microchip information.

This National Microchipping Month, take a few minutes to make sure your pet's details are correct. It could make all the difference if they ever go missing.

Not sure if your pet is microchipped or whether their details are up to date? Pop into the clinic and we'd be happy to scan their chip and point you in the right direction.

😾 "Excuse me... I was having a perfectly good nap."

Missy recently paid us a visit with a sore ear and, judging by her expression, she was less than thrilled about being woken up for her examination! 💤➡️🩺

Ear problems are common in both cats and dogs and can be caused by infections, ear mites, allergies, polyps, foreign material, or underlying skin conditions. Signs to watch out for include:
👂 Head shaking
👂 Scratching at the ears
👂 Redness or swelling
👂 A bad smell from the ears
👂 Discharge or debris
👂 Sensitivity when the ears are touched
👂 Changes in balance or hearing

If you notice any of these symptoms, it's best to have your pet checked sooner rather than later. Ear issues can be uncomfortable and may worsen without the right treatment.
