Today is an important day for foxes in Ireland with the vote in the Dail. Hopefully the TDs will see that hunting with a pack of dogs and watching an animal being torn apart by a group of dogs is not and never has been about 'pest control'. This is not humane. There are strict laws in many facets of animal welfare in Ireland where a humane death is a legal obligaton. We have cared for hundreds of foxes and have always observed them to be incredibly similar to domestic dogs. Hunting with dogs is inhumane and indiscriminate where pets and other wildlife have been killed in the pursuit of a fox.
Just like all wildlife they spend all day every day trying to find food and stay alive.
'Pest' control can absolutely be done in a humane way and many in the agricultural industry will use this humane way to dispatch nuisance animals and we absolutely understand protecting your livelihood and the importance of protecting Irelands agricultural industry.

Dogs ripping foxes apart...is not part of any of this.
Please vote to ban this and listen to the majority of the Irish people who find it abhorrent and from the dark ages.

Depending how the vote goes do remember to write down names of all those Tds who align themselves with compassion and have animal welfare at the forefront of their minds in future elections.
