The calves have had the “Quiet Wean” nose flaps off now for 24 hours.

All 6 calves are quiet today.
4/5 cows are quiet. One first calved cow is still a bit noisy. But we will take 1 noisy cow over 5 any day of the week!

I will have to say that overall they have been very successful. We usually have a week of noise and fields that have paths worn into them from pacing so we are very happy that this isn’t the case this time.

Thanks to Stockhealth Bandon for gifting them to us to try! We won’t be without them in future!

This picture says it all. One full day down with the quiet weans that were gifted to us by Stockhealth Bandon.

We have silence!! The cows are bagging up and happy out grazing and the calves are equally as relaxed. Have seen a few attempt to suck with no joy!

With the cold snap it’s vital to keep young calves warm.
With calf coats/jackets calves don’t waste energy trying to keep warm as a result thrive better and avoid sickness.
