Some tips during this spell of hot weather 🌞

Please remember to keep your animals cool and safe during this heatwave 😎
- Only walk when its cool, very early mornng, or late at night.
- Provide fresh water at all times.
- Make sure there is plenty of shelter/shade.
- Avoid travelling in cars, especially dont leave any pets in cars.
- Older, overweight, flatfaced, thick coated dogs/cats will be more at risk of heat stroke.
-Signs of heatstroke: shaking, weakness, collapse, vomiting, excessive panting, drooling, red/pale gums, confusion, seizures and diarrhoea.

WEATHER WARNING - ANIMAL WELFARE

Humid and warm weather is forecast for Ireland for the latter half of this week, conditions which pose a significant risk to the welfare of livestock in vehicles.
• Temperatures will reach up to 28˚C over the next seven days.
• Humidity greatly increases the ill-effects of heat, as animals’ ability to control their body temperature is weakened.
• Both temperature and humidity are typically higher within lorries that are loaded with livestock, than outside the lorry; both parameters rise sharply when the vehicle is not moving.
• Attention should be given to ventilation, particularly with pigs travelling for slaughter.
• Animals should never be left unattended in stationary vehicles. Ensure fans are turned on at all times.

He came to see us yesterday for a check up 🩺
Its not everyday we see this breed of cat 🤩
So everyone was stopping to have a look!

🐾 Alfie 🐾

He came to see us yesterday for his final puppy vaccines & a kennel cough vaccine 🩺
The kennel cough vaccine is recommended, as it helps prevent or reduce the risk of getting the highly contagious virus!
It doesn't guarantee complete immunity, but it significantly lowers the risk of contracting kennel cough and can lessen the severity of symptoms if they do get sick 🐛
Alfie was a very brave boy, who loved getting lots of belly rubs 😁
