Our lovely Lizzy has been out for her morning stroll today thanks to a kind volunteer. She has to take it a bit easy due to her hips, but she still likes to get out.

Lizzy is sooo close to reaching her target to get her the hip surgery needs to allow her to find a forever home! 🖤

These two are reserved (before anyone floods our inbox!! 😆) but we just had to show everyone them because LOOK how cute!

Mirela is an older lady with a sad story and a wonky leg, and Louis is our bouncy golden boy.. two totally different stories, two very different lives, but look at them. Happy in foster together, chewing on ears and looking happy as can be, despite one being dumped in the road at a few months old, or the other being used for hunting her whole life and then discarded.

They don’t know how each of them got to where they are now, and they don’t care.. they’ve found themselves a friend in each other. Both will be leaving for their homes soon💛

Today we have a happy ending to tell! Back in May, a family came to visit the island and they fell in love with a dog at their hotel, who they called Lola. They couldn’t stop thinking about her so at the airport, they sent us a message asking us if we could help them get her home to them. They’d already checked with the hotel she was a stray and they’d confirmed we could take her, they had also left their details with the receptionist just in case!
So, after all the necessary home checks and chats were done, one of the team went to track down the dog so we could prepare her for travel.
And this weekend, the family flew back to Zante to collect their girl! They very kindly stopped by the shelter with a kind note and donation, and on Sunday, they took their Lola home! ❤️

Meet our little trio - Bumble, Pirate and Rosa!

Both Bumble and Pirate have found their people and will be leaving in 4 weeks time, leaving behind our little Rosa.

We are all asking ourselves how Rosa hasn’t been chosen yet because she’s the loveliest girl. She’s very petite, she’s lovessss humans and she is so friendly with everyone. She loves to let you know she wants attention by doing a little squeal when you get close, and she really falls into you to make sure you don’t go anywhere.

She would love to live with another dog and can live with children over 12. She’s a young girl, no more than 2, and would make a really lovely family member.

Our lovely Kanella wanted to say hello today!
It’s been a while since she had some new photos and our lovely Mairi has been over so got some of her. Kanella is the most gentle girl, happy and friendly with humans and other dogs.
She has a very mild hip displaysia we discovered last year, however you’d hardly notice it, and she does not seem to be in any pain. It definitely doesn’t stop her living her best life in her foster home with the other dogs!
She’s around 4 years old now, and doesn’t ever get any interest which we are always surprised by as the Greek hounds are such a lovely family dog. They are always very gentle and loving.

Our fruit babies are still waiting for their forever homes!

4 of the litter have secured homes but Waffle and Coconut are still waiting.

These two babies are very friendly, socialised and love to play.

🥥 Coconut - female, she loves to play, she’s very cheeky and friendly
🧇 Waffle - male, he loves to curl up anywhere near you, but will also always get involved in the play!

These babies will be ready to go mid July and would love to find their people. They would like to either go as a pair, or to live in a home where there is already a resident cat as they are so used to being with other cats now.

Our BettyLou is desperately hoping to find herself a home or a foster home before she goes back to the shelter!

She is currently in a foster home, enjoying home comforts and we are hoping maybe someone might give her a chance and take her into their home. BettyLou didn’t enjoy the shelter very much, which is understandable for an older dog, it’s quite loud for them there and a lot of commotion.

BettyLou is a mountain dog cross, she’s a sweet older girl, she isn’t living with any other animals at present but can pass other dogs on walks nicely. She would suit a home with a large sized garden she can roam around in as this breed in particular do like to roam outside and watch over their garden/land! BettyLou also takes great interest in washing hanging on the line as you can see 🤣

If you think you could offer her a foster home either on the island or abroad (we can arrange long term foster due to her age), please let us know. Alternatively if you can offer her a home, please send us a message! 💌

Today Jazzy would like to introduce herself!

Jazzy was found roaming the streets of Laganas earlier this year with her friend Sally (she’s been reserved already!). The laganas feeding group were kindly taking care of them, looking out for them and managed to get them sterilized. However, when the season started to get busier, the road they’d been on for the winter wasn’t so safe for them anymore so it was decided they’d come to the shelter.
Typically, as soon as we decided that, the girls disappeared! They stopped showing up for their food so of course we started to worry. Thankfully, Sally turned up again one morning, however she is the more confident one of the pair and we knew if we took Sally, then we would never get Jazzy and we couldn’t bare to leave her behind when she depends on her friend. So we waited a while longer and luckily Jazzy did reappear, so they were caught and brought to the shelter.
Jazzy we think is bit of a pointer/hound cross and she’s a beautiful, soft natured girl. She’s very petite, around 13kg, and she is learning that love from human is pretty nice and she doesn’t need to be so unsure of the world. Sally is her comfort blanket, and soon she will lose her so we really love to get her, her own place to go. She walks lovely on the lead and she stops to make sure you’re still there which is very sweet. Now all she needs is her home!

Meet Georgie!
This good boy was found nearby to the shelter, by someone who had been advised by his owner to go and dump him somewhere. Why?! We ask ourselves daily!!
Thankfully, our team came across him whilst out on a walk and we agreed to take him.. he would have only ended up running outside the shelter in the end.
He arrived with very matted fur and ears, he was in pain in his ears too.
He’s a very sweet boy who is quite submissive at the moment, but very friendly and we are sure will be a typical playful, silly springer cross once settled.
Georgie would love an active home and could live with another dog.

🌅 This weeks Twilight Visiting Hours!

Come and say hello to the dogs this Saturday from 6pm–7pm, when it’s a little cooler and a little calmer. 🐶🧡

We’ll be trialling these throughout the summer, with dates and times announced each week depending on team availability.
