We receive countless messages and emails a day about stray cats and kittens. We simply cannot help everyone. We have a dog shelter, with 100 dogs to look after, we do not have any space for cats. We wish we did!! 😩
We try to spread as much information and advice as we can so people know how to act and how fast when they come across a cat or kitten in need 🚑🚨
It really is down to the finders to get help. Please, get them to a vet if they need medical help. Please don’t message across 4 different charities the same thing, because in that time you could have got to a vet, and you use up 4 different people’s energy to reply the same thing (it’s a small island, we all connect every single day! 👯🏽♀️)
📫 Some insight to our day: In just one day we’ve had around 20 cats reported in need. Times that by every day of the week, all season long. We are answering potentially 140 message a week, about stray cats in need 💔 and we only have 1-2 people answering messages, both with full time jobs. We know it’s a big ask, to ask for people to get help themselves, but we try to advise and help as many as possible.
Please, if you find a cat or kitten in medical need, phone one of the vets on the info sheet on our page or google it, and they will be happy to help you 🙏🏼

🚨 A reminder we wish we didn't have to make... 🚨
This image perfectly illustrates a situation we face almost every day.
People often contact us demanding that we take in just one more cat, just one more kitty, just one more emergency case. And when we explain that our resources are limited, we are sometimes met with criticism, pressure, or accusations that we are not doing enough.
❗ The reality is this:
🐾 Our team currently has only ONE active volunteer on the island.
🐾 She works long hours every single day and, on top of that, spends her free time caring for countless stray animals, responding to emergencies, feeding, rescuing, trapping, transporting, fundraising and trying to keep everything running.
🐾 The only help she receives from time to time comes from our wonderful friends and supporters who step in whenever they can. ❤️
🙏 The good news is that from July, things will become a little easier, as our trapper will be returning from Athens to help with trapping and rescue efforts.
Until then, we need understanding, cooperation and action from the community.
⚠️ If you see an animal in need, please do not wait for someone else to take it to the vet instead of you.
👉 If YOU found the animal, YOU are in the best position to help.
👉 Contact us for advice, guidance or support if needed, but please don't assume that a tiny group of volunteers can instantly drop everything and take over every situation.
💔 Most importantly: please do not guilt-trip, pressure, harass or emotionally attack the very few people who have dedicated their lives to helping animals.
Kindness is not only for the animals. It should also extend to the humans fighting for them every single day. 🐾❤️
Together, we can do so much more when everyone helps a little.
🚨 Μια υπενθύμιση που μακάρι να μη χρειαζόταν να κάνουμε... 🚨
Αυτή η εικόνα αποτυπώνει ακριβώς μια κατάσταση που αντιμετωπίζουμε σχεδόν καθημερινά.
Πολλοί επικοινωνούν μαζί μας ζητώντας να αναλάβουμε άλλη μία γάτα, άλλο ένα γατάκι, ακόμη ένα επείγον περιστατικό. Και όταν εξηγούμε ότι οι δυνατότητές μας είναι περιορισμένες, συχνά δεχόμαστε παράπονα, πίεση ή ακόμα και κατηγορίες ότι «δεν βοηθάμε αρκετά».
❗ Η πραγματικότητα είναι η εξής:
🐾 Η ομάδα μας αυτή τη στιγμή διαθέτει ΜΟΝΟ ΜΙΑ ενεργή εθελόντρια στο νησί.
🐾 Έναν άνθρωπο που εργάζεται πολλές ώρες καθημερινά και παράλληλα αφιερώνει τον χρόνο, την ενέργεια και τα χρήματά του στη φροντίδα αμέτρητων αδέσποτων, σε περιστατικά έκτακτης ανάγκης, μεταφορές, παγιδεύσεις, στειρώσεις, ταΐσματα και διασώσεις.
🐾 Η μοναδική βοήθεια που έχει κατά διαστήματα προέρχεται από φίλους και υποστηρικτές της ομάδας μας, τους οποίους ευχαριστούμε από καρδιάς. ❤️
🙏 Τα καλά νέα είναι ότι από τον Ιούλιο τα πράγματα θα γίνουν λίγο πιο εύκολα, καθώς η trapper μας επιστρέφει από την Αθήνα και θα μπορέσει να συνδράμει ξανά στις παγιδεύσεις και τις διασώσεις.
Μέχρι τότε, χρειαζόμαστε κατανόηση, συνεργασία και υπευθυνότητα.
⚠️ Αν δείτε ένα ζώο σε ανάγκη, μην περιμένετε κάποιος άλλος να το πάει στον κτηνίατρο αντί για εσάς.
👉 Αν εσείς βρήκατε το ζώο, έχετε και την ηθική ευθύνη να κινητοποιηθείτε.
👉 Επικοινωνήστε μαζί μας για συμβουλές, καθοδήγηση ή βοήθεια όπου είναι δυνατόν, αλλά μην θεωρείτε δεδομένο ότι οι ελάχιστοι εθελοντές μπορούν να αφήσουν τα πάντα και να αναλάβουν κάθε περιστατικό.
💔 Και κάτι ακόμη πολύ σημαντικό:
❌ Μην ασκείτε ψυχολογική πίεση. ❌ Μην ενοχοποιείτε. ❌ Μην απαιτείτε.
Οι ελάχιστοι άνθρωποι που έχουν αφιερώσει τη ζωή τους στα αδέσποτα δεν είναι υποχρεωμένοι να σηκώνουν μόνοι τους ένα βάρος που ανήκει σε ολόκληρη την κοινωνία.
🐾 Η φιλοζωία δεν είναι να δείχνουμε με το δάχτυλο ποιος «πρέπει» να βοηθήσει.
❤️ Η φιλοζωία είναι να βοηθάμε εμείς οι ίδιοι όταν βρεθούμε μπροστά σε ένα ζώο που μας έχει ανάγκη.
🤝 Όταν ο καθένας κάνει το μικρό του κομμάτι, μπορούμε να πετύχουμε θαύματα.
