Who are we?

- Professional & experienced dog walking and pet services based in Snodland (Kent), specialising in providing care for small breed dogs.

When we look after your pets we treat them with love, kindness and respect at all times. Our greatest priority is the safety and happiness of each pet in our care. We believe the trust and bond we build with each pet, is what dictates our real success. We love what we do and feel privileged to look after your pets! The founder of Pet Trails is Catherine Carolan. Catherine is an avid animal lover who’s IMDT trained (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) and Level 5, Professional Canine Behaviourist (Canine Principles) trained. Catherine is gold member of NARPS, the association of professional dog walkers and pet sitters. Accredited and certified courses covering:

Catherine has 6 of her own rescue dogs, all from significantly dysfunctional backgrounds, so understands how much patience, rehabilitation and understanding some dogs need to feel happy and secure. Pet Trails will always work with your pet as an individual, based on their needs and making sure we fully support them growing in confidence and happiness. We believe that working to your pets boundaries and time frames are imperative to form a successful bond, so we don't push your pets to do anything they feel uncomfortable about doing. It's essential to gain trust and to work on the pets terms, to have a long lasting respectful, trusted and happy relationship. We are 100% reliable, flexible, trustworthy and we provide a service which allows you to fully trust us with your pets and home. Happy Hump Day!

What a day we’ve had! Sunshine, happy dogs, lovely friendships, lots of kisses, learning, bonding and even a surprise visitor who decided he wanted to join the Pet Trails gang! 😂

It turns out a cheeky little escape artist had made a run for it from his owners and somehow found his way to the woods behind our field!

We’d had one very worried owner at our main gates, desperately trying to locate her missing boy using his GPS tracker. She headed off to continue her search, but just five minutes later, who should we spot peering through our fence? The cheekiest, smiliest little face looking in at us, clearly wondering how he could get in on all the fun! 😂🥹

Our dogs were VERY excited to see him! 💕

Thankfully, we managed to catch our unexpected visitor and reunite him safely with his very relieved owner!

He was an absolute sweetheart too, so friendly, beautiful and full of character! And if he ever wants to come and join Pet Trails, he’d be very welcome!

Never a dull moment at Pet Trails! 😂

All’s well that ends well, and thankfully this little adventure had a very happy ending! ❤️ 🙌

End of the week’s fun and frolics!

We had such a lovely training session with this gorgeous boy and his wonderful mum! 🩷🐾

Our session was all about understanding the emotions behind his behaviour, recognising his triggers and exploring how best to support him when the world feels a little overwhelming or he has mixed feelings about the things happening around him.

We also spent some time working on promoting calm around getting his harness and lead on, and leaving the house, helping to make those everyday routines feel more relaxed and positive, so he can start his walks in a calmer, more settled frame of mind.

We worked on a mixture of skills, including recall refreshers, eye contact and check-ins, redirection, engage-disengage, creating space and using movement to help him feel more comfortable and confident.

Most importantly, we focused on giving his lovely mum practical tools and a deeper understanding of what he’s communicating through his behaviour, so she can recognise when he needs support and help him navigate those tricky moments at his own pace. 🐶

He’s such a clever, beautiful boy, and he’s incredibly lucky to have a mum who is so dedicated to understanding him, advocating for him and helping him feel safe and supported. 🩷

Because training isn’t just about changing behaviour. It’s about understanding the emotions behind it, building trust and helping our dogs feel better about the world around them - that’s where the real change happens 🙏❤️
