Kicking off our new team introductions, we’re delighted to welcome Penny to Saunders & Daughters as one of our new 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀.

With over 40 years of hands-on horse experience, Penny brings a wealth of practical knowledge to the Saunders & Daughters team. Throughout her equestrian journey, she has produced horses to grassroots level in both BE and BS, and is now focusing on dressage with her young horse, Salad.

Having run her own equestrian shop for the past 13 years, Penny has developed extensive knowledge across a wide range of saddlery brands, products and the latest technical developments within the industry. This experience gives her a fantastic understanding of both horse and rider needs when it comes to finding the right saddle.

Leg position can tell you a lot about saddle fit 🔍

A well-fitting saddle should help support a balanced position, allowing the rider’s leg to sit naturally underneath them without forcing it forwards or backwards.

If the saddle isn’t the right fit for horse or rider, you’ll often start to see compensation in the rider’s position:
• Lower leg slipping back
• Chair seat position (leg too far forward)
• Knee extending past the knee block
• Tipping forwards or behind the movement
• Struggling to stay stable in the saddle

Saddle fit isn’t just about the horse. The rider’s balance, and alignment play a part too.

A ridden assessment is an important part of the fitting process, allowing us to see how the saddle performs in motion.

That’s why we always assess saddle fit with both horse and rider in mind.

We are very proud to introduce our new trainees Penny and Ella. Some of you have met them already out and about with us but they are now ready to start visiting clients alone 🙂

At Saunders & Daughters, we stock a carefully selected range of saddle brands.

Different horses, and riders require all different types of saddles, which is why stocking a variety of brands is so important. Each brand offers various tree shapes, panel configurations, feel and balance, allowing us to find the most suitable option for our clients.

We also occasionally get other brands in through part exchange, so if you’re looking for something specific, feel free to get in touch - we may just have what you’re after!
