If it’s too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for their paws!
Tarmac and pavements can reach scorching temperatures in the sun and may cause serious burns to your dog’s paws.

🐾 Walk during the cooler parts of the day - early morning or late evening.
🌳 Stick to shaded routes or grassy areas.
🔥 Use the 5-second test’: if it’s too hot to touch, it’s too hot to walk on.

Let’s keep our pets safe and cool this summer!

🍉 Watermelon wonder!

A sweet, juicy way to help your dog cool down this summer – watermelon (served seedless and rind-free!) is a refreshing treat packed with water and goodness.

❄️ Try serving chilled or frozen into bite-sized chunks for an extra cooling effect!
💡 Always serve in moderation – it’s a treat, not a meal.

What other fruity faves do your pets love when the sun's out? ☀️

🦷 Ever wondered what happens during a dental procedure for your pet?

Here’s a quick breakdown 👇

🔍 First, we examine your pet’s mouth to check for plaque, tartar, gum disease, and tooth damage.

🧼 Then we gently scale away plaque and tartar - even under the gum line - followed by a polish to keep teeth smooth and help prevent future build-up.

🦷 If we spot any issues, like broken or decayed teeth, we’ll talk you through treatment options.

Dental procedures are a vital part of keeping your pet’s mouth healthy and pain-free. If it’s been a while, or you’re concerned about their teeth, give us a call to book a check-up!

Letting your cat out for the day?

Without a cat flap or shady shelter, they could be stuck outside in the heat until you get home☀️

Ensure they have a cool place to rest, water available, and ideally a way to get back indoors.

Cool as a Cucumber – and pet-friendly too!
On a warm summer day, cooled cucumber slices make a great hydrating snack for dogs (and some cats too!).
✅ Low in calories
✅ High in water
✅ Crunchy and satisfying

Always serve in small, manageable pieces – and never seasoned or pickled!

Not every pet is a fan, and that’s okay – every treat should suit their tummy and taste.

What’s your pet’s favourite summer snack?

Plaque and tartar might seem minor – but they can lead to serious dental problems for your pet.

Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that forms within hours after eating. If not removed, it hardens into tartar, which can cause gum disease, tooth decay, and more.

🔍 Look out for:
• Bad breath
• Yellow/brown staining
• Red gums
• Difficulty eating or chewing
• Pawing at the mouth

⚠️ Noticed any of these signs? Book a dental check-up with your vet asap – early action can prevent pain and long-term issues.

🪥 Regular brushing, dental chews, and yearly check-ups go a long way in keeping those teeth healthy!

A ✅ bingo for humans.
A ❌ bingo for dogs.

While we’re all about celebrating World Chocolate Day, our pets should definitely sit this one out.

Even small amounts of certain chocolates can cause symptoms between 4 and 24 hours after eating from vomiting to hyperactivity – so, keep those goodies high and your vet’s number handy, just in case.

Let’s enjoy the chocolate without sharing it - your pets will thank you for it!

Inquisitive noses and buzzing bees don’t always mix!

If your dog gets stung by a bee or wasp, here’s what to do:

🐝Remove the sting (if visible) by gently scraping it out with a bank card or something similar — don’t use tweezers, as they can squeeze more venom in.

🐝 Soothe the area with a cold compress or clean cloth soaked in cold water.

🐝 Watch for signs of a serious reaction, such as:– Swelling, especially around the mouth, throat or eyes– Vomiting or diarrhoea– Trouble breathing– Weakness or collapse.

📞 If your pet shows any of these signs, or is stung on the face, inside the mouth or throat, call your vet right away - reactions can develop quickly and be serious.

Even mild stings can be painful, so always monitor your pet closely and contact your vet if you’re unsure.

Sheds, Greenhouses, Summerhouses

During the hotter months, cats can find their way into a nice and cosy area like sheds and greenhouses.
However, they can become trapped, too warm and then dehydrated.
Please always check these places for unexpected visitors before locking them up!
