Guernsey's Lost & Found Pets

Guernsey's Lost & Found Pets Let’s Get Them Home… Guernsey Animal Aid was founded in 1998 by Sue Vidamour as an answer to the feral cat problem in Guernsey.

The cats were interbreeding and this led to a lot of pain and suffering for them. Prior to this Sue had been rehoming horses and dogs for 6 years. In 1998 there were many feral cat colonies on the island so Sue held a meeting about the problem and Guernsey Animal Aid was formed. Since this first meeting over 700 feral cats have been neutered or spayed and the kittens re-homed. Now thanks to the ef

forts of Sue and the rest of the Guernsey Animal Aid gang, feral cats are a shrinking problem. However it is one that we need to keep on top of and here at Guernsey Animal Aid that’s exactly what we intend to do. Over the years Guernsey Animal Aid expanded and eventually we were taking on all animals, no matter how big or small. We were a rescue center & sanctuary and we never turned an animal in need away. Unfortunately after many years of rescuing animals in need, due to health issues, Sue was no longer able to look after so many animals, even with the help of all the volunteers, so it was with a heavy heart that Guernsey Animal Aid was shut down. We re-homed the animals that were suitable for re-homing. The ponies, the rabbits and guinea pigs. The parrots were all taken to specialist sanctuaries in the UK. It was decided however that we couldn’t stop the work we were doing for feral cats on the Island. If we stopped now, then the problem would come back and the feral cat situation would gradually get out of control again. So any remaining money that had been donated to us before we shut down was used towards this scheme. Since then we have decided to re-open. This time though we would put all of our resources into cats and a few select cases for dogs.

🔶POLITE NOTICE🔶PLEASE HELP🔸
Over recent weeks, Star who is a lovely natured cat has been spending time behind the surgery at St Martins Healthcare, Galeries Du Manoir, St Martins. We have been made aware that Star is being fed on a regular basis, which in turn is stopping her from returning home. Star’s family have requested that no one feeds her, as she is now on a special veterinary controlled diet. Continuing to feed her could be very detrimental to her health, and if anyone continues to feed Star, she will not go home for the diet that she requires. She is 13 years old, and now winter is on its way, her owner would really love Star to be spending more time at home, especially as it is now getting colder 🐾

💙A BEAUTIFUL RAY OF SUNSHINE💙

A quick update on the ginger boy trying to gain access to a house in St Jacques, St Peter Port, mentioned in The Guernsey Cat Community.

Janie dropped a microchip scanner to Nina (the house he was visiting) and he has been scanned.

His name is Sunshine, he lives close by and is not lost.

We would like to thank Nina for reaching out and checking on this beautiful boys welfare. Luckily on this occasion all is well but that is not always the case. It is no bother at all to come out to check on a cat so please don't hesitate to contact us if you have a cat trying to gain access to your house or is stealing your cats food...it could be one that is lost 🐾

⭐️UPDATE⭐️
We thought we would give you an update on the ‘Rousse’ cat collected by Janie on the 12 November 2025. Unfortunately no owner has come forward as yet.

This little boy is very nervous and it is suspected that he has been surviving on his own for a good length of time. He has a gentle nature but it is taking some time for him to decompress and relax.

If an owner is not found in the 21 days grace period, the GSPCA will be working with him for some months to rehabilitate him, before a very patient and special owner will be sought. Please do not contact GSPCA at this time but do look out for updates on their page in the future.

‼️STRAY CAT‼️
Janie has taken in this beautiful boy to GSPCA this evening.

This boy has been sleeping in a garage and stealing food from several residences at Rousse for about five months. We’d like to extend a special thank you to Vicky, Kate and the wonderful residents at Le Petit Clos who worked together as a team with Janie over the last week, to ensure the safe capture of this little one.

He is not microchipped, not neutered and has a watery right eye.

Is this your cat? Please contact the GSPCA on 257261. Proof of ownership will be required in the form of veterinary documentation and photographic evidence.

Note: This is not Eric or Harry who are similar looking cats as they are both microchipped and neutered. Noddy’s mum will check tomorrow 🐾
