Albie has been through a lot of lifestyle changes lately as well as some major medical challenges. He is being SUCH a brave boy, and his family are working really hard to support him. He just needs a little bit of extra support, which is why he has come to me!

The lovely is taking great care of him and managing his pain, so my job is keeping him emotionally regulated and easing him into all of the new experiences that await him (e.g. sharing a house with his big brother Ollie)!

I have been designing a high-welfare dog daycare facility for a while now, and it is finally time to get it off of the ground!

As a behaviourist, I so frequently see emotional and physical challenges manifesting in dogs as a direct result of unsuitable daycare facilities. So, I am changing the rules.

Imagine if you could send your dog to a facility that had:
✅ A maximum of 32 dogs
✅ A CCAB running the show, with highly trained staff making up the rest of the team
✅ An emphasis on sleep, rest and emotional wellbeing
✅ A behaviour clinic onsite
✅ Close links with local vets and vet physiotherapists
✅ Ability to mix dogs in suitable groups, rather than a free-for-all
✅ Ability to consider dogs with behaviour problems

Monty 🐾 My first 😍 Monty has been referred to me for struggling to settle. One thing I have learned through my career is that many dogs don't work out how to settle and rest on their own, we have to teach them!

Monty's family hoped he would just "grow out of it", but 8 years later he is still being a monkey! We are ruling out pain first, and then we are going to work on practicing calm behaviours and spending time in quiet spaces without stimulation.

What a whirlwind Ruby's family have been on since bringing her home. As with so many people, they chose a cockapoo as an easy beginner dog and chose Ruby for the pretty girl that she is. What they didn't ask for was multiple gut problems, worms, and a problem with guarding.

Her family have worked so hard already getting her tummy sorted out and learning how to manage a puppy with sensitivities. It's not easy, but sadly it's the case with many puppies these days. Join me in welcoming Ruby and her humans to the family! 🫶

Paddy had a nasty run-in with another dog when he was around 10 months old. Since then, he has struggled to make friends. We also have various questions about potential medical issues that might be interfering, since some of his behaviour is quite unprovoked and random. Scent marking and distribution is an normal, natural behaviour that goes back to the ancestry of our dogs' wild and free-roaming counterparts. Dogs are territory-driven animals and they use this behaviour to communicate. Dogs do NOT do this to "flex" or be dominant.

This bogus video is just another example of humans (normally men) trying to exert control over a species that they do not fully understand. We can bring dogs into our home, but we cannot erase their instincts or turn them into robots.
🐾
The only time I see this becomes an issue is when it is linked to a very worried dog that scent marks out of fear. In these circumstances, the dog needs support to feel safe, they do not need further restrictions put upon them.

Lovely Henry has no bad intentions, just a lot of feelings that he wants to talk about. In particular, if he is bored you will know about it! We are starting treatment with a good look at impulse control alongside desensitisation to the things he finds most exciting! ✨

Peanut struggles around other dogs, despite having been a highly social puppy. Sometimes, there is no obvious trigger, and the change over to adolescence is confusing enough to unsettle them. To be totally sure though, we are going to pursue a pain relief trial and some work on his emotional regulation to make sure all his inner needs are met. Welcome Peanut!

I know how sceptical people are when online training and behaviour modification is mentioned, but honestly, the worries couldn't be further from the truth!

Online treatment is incredibly effective and still gets to the bottom of those pesky problems. The difference lies in the ability to help your dog without upsetting them. For those that are worried about strangers, online treatment is the sweet spot.

Regular video updates and ongoing WhatsApp communication is the key to meeting your goals, all without the stress of turning the house into a fortress for someone to visit.
