One of my lovely doggies arrived for his holiday sleepover & his lovely mum gave me the sweetest card and gift to say thank you for looking after him 🐶

It was such a thoughtful surprise and genuinely made my day! 🥰

I never expect gifts from my customers, knowing their dogs are happy, safe and loved while they’re with me is what matters most. But these kind gestures really do mean the world don’t they! 🤩

I recently saw a post about our industry, which inspired me to share this 🐶

Understanding the cost of professional dog care…

When choosing doggy daycare or home boarding, the price can sometimes look quite different when we understand what’s included behind the scenes.

For example, our £35 daycare fee covers up to 10 hours of care, which is £3.50 per hour.

Our £50 sleepover fee works out at approximately £2.08 per hour calculated over 24 hours.

Of course, these figures don’t represent the actual income from each booking. A professional dog care business has significant running costs, including:-

🐶 Licensing & inspection fees
✅ Business & public liability insurance
🧼 Cleaning & laundry
🏡 Heating & household costs
📁 Tax & N.I
🧸 Equipment & enrichment
🌿 Maintenance
📋 Admin & business costs
❤️ Time, experience & responsibility
🐾 Ongoing training & professional development

And, above all, there is the time, experience & responsibility involved in caring for someone’s much-loved family member.

Professional dog care is much more than simply having a dog in your home. It involves providing a loving & safe environment, managing different dogs & personalities, maintaining high standards of hygiene and welfare & being responsible for their wellbeing throughout their stay.

So when comparing prices, it’s worth considering not just the number on the price list, but everything that sits behind it.

Today we celebrate the unconditional love, loyalty & happiness our dogs bring into our lives every single day.

And today feels a little more poignant as we also say goodbye to a true legend… Dolly Parton 🌟

Dolly spent her life spreading kindness, joy & love & I can’t think of a better way to honour her than by celebrating the simple things that make life happier…animals, good music & good people! 🐶

Dolly doted on her manager’s dog Billy the kid & famously called him her god dog 🐶

So today, give your dog an extra cuddle, tell them how much you love them, and maybe turn the Dolly up a little louder! 💃🕺🎶💃🕺🎶

Thanks for the music & the fun Dolly, what a legacy you leave behind! 🌟
