Group lessons are a fantastic way to improve your riding skills while being part of a friendly encouraging community.

-Groups are more cost effective - only £46 for an hour
-Greater social interaction: Other people may ask questions you hadn't though of, or were too embarrassed to ask, so you learn more.
-Camaraderie - a social environment helps riders to make friends. Shared experiences can make learning more enjoyable and help riders overcome apprehensions.
-Observational learning - watching others in the group provides opportunities to understand different riding styles and techniques and to learn from others mistakes.
-Shared feedback and learning opportunities - feedback to the group can be helpful for individuals to pick up skills that they are not working on right now, but will be helpful at other times.
-Motivation and competition - friendly competition can help to inspire riders to try harder and progress faster.
-Horsemanship skills: group settings require riders to practice being aware of other horses, reading body language, maintaining safe distances and adjusting paces.
-Greater independent thinking: the coach will not be continually guiding everyone's every move, so participants learn to listen to their horse, prepare better and gain skills required to ride independently faster.
-Prepares riders safely for larger group experiences: Riders need to learn to handle horses in a variety of situations such as shows, competitions, hacks and places where horses get more excited. Small groups under the supervision of a coach is a great way to develop the necessary skills.
-Varied exercises and games: Group lessons allow coaches to create a greater variety of lesson plans and activities, which keeps lessons interesting and challenging.
- Building confidence - Riding in a group can be helpful for both riders and horses to build confidence doing new things. It is nearly always easier if you have someone to follow.
-Sharpens focus and concentration skills: It is crucial to pay more attention to what your horse is thinking and to your surroundings. Students become more aware of possible distractions and subtle changes.
- Develop autonomy - Independent problem solving is validating and confidence building for the rider.
-Teamwork and cooperation - Participants learn to work together, support each other and engage in group exercises which require collaboration.
-Friendship - A great way to meet like-minded people.
Regularity - Groups take place every week, and being part of the group encourages you to ride frequently, leading to faster progress.

If you are registered with us online at https://valley-farm.ecpro.co.uk/ suitable groups should show up on your account, but if you are unsure or need any advice about the best group for you or your child, please contact us.

BLUEBELL & BRACKEN We know that Bluebell has a large fan club and that she is a little bit of a local celebrity, so we are letting you know that she will be taking a well deserved retirement at a wonderful home with horses known to her. We all wish her well in the next stage of her life and are sure you will want to pass on your good wishes.

During her time with us she has been very popular with RDA clients and her broad back has made her especially popular for people learning equestrian vaulting. During her time at NHEC she helped many people to improve their riding and pass their BHS stages. We will miss her friendly face in the end stable, watching everyone arriving and leaving the yard.

We were very fortunate that Bracken has been able to accompany her. Bracken is a popular pony who has been with us for a long time and has turned her hoof to most activities from horseball to western riding, working equitation to polocrosse. She has been out to plenty of competitions and made lots of friends, but is now of an age where she is wanting a slightly quieter life.

We know some of you will miss them greatly but we can assure you that they will be very well cared for and will enjoy their retirement.

We are so grateful that Bracken and Bluebell will continue to keep each other company and we look forward to hearing about their new adventures.

2.30pm Group Lesson this Thursday with Amanda BHS APC
This is a friendly, mixed ability group, where we can discuss ideas, ask questions and learn from each other. Amanda has a wealth of knowledge to share, and likes to support the improvement of horses and riders by focusing on biomechanics, poles and obstacles. Her coaching style supports the physical and mental wellbeing of horse and rider by developing the ability for them to understand each other better. Riders can choose to ride with Western or English tack and are also welcome to bring their own horses to join this group.
Weekly £46.00 per session. Please book online at https://valley-farm.ecpro.co.uk/

DYK that learning horse agility can help make you a better rider. It is fun for you and for your horse and hopefully you both pick up helpful skills which could be transferred into the saddle if you wish.

Our groundwork sessions begin again this Thursday with Horse Agility Accredited Trainer Amanda Melton.

Weekly classes encompass activities like leading, lunging, and long-reining to establish a foundational partnership and better understand the horse's physical and mental state. Fun pole exercises and obstacles challenge both horses and handlers to help build body awareness, mutual trust and a better partnership while improving strength, suppleness and coordination.

Bring your own horse or partner with one of ours. £25 for the hour.

Changing Lives Through Horses is an alternative education programme of regular sessions, with qualified and experienced BHS accredited professional coaches. Our sessions begin this Wednesday but we can accept referrals at any time.

The CLtH programme uses a range of awards and achievements within a professional equine setting linked to the school curriculum, but focused and structured towards promoting holistic development and nurturing six life skills: building relationships, communication, confidence, responsibility, teamwork, and perseverance.

CLtH is suitable for young people, under 25, who have special needs and may be either permanently excluded, or at risk of exclusion in its widest sense, and those who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET). They may also be at risk of becoming socially excluded with income below the poverty line and without the skills to improve their economic situation.
