Some solar farm applications get approved simply because a community does not have the finances to fight, we will not let this happen with our fight to STOP DEBEN SOLAR FARM! Every £10/£20 (or more if you feel able to) all adds up and is very appreciated .... Sandy Lane Kennels will match £1,000 once that’s reached!
Fighting a solar farm application entails significant financial costs:
- Specialist Consultants to challenge technical aspects such as landscape impact, heritage concerns etc.

Imagine the view down into the Deben Valley (see photo) being lost forever to a sea of glaring black glass as far as the eye can see, also the devastating impact on wildlife, it simply does not bear thinking about. Solar farms are now plaguing the Suffolk countryside (they are being paid NOT to produce energy as the grid cannot cope) enough is enough! The power companies/land owners could not care less about the communities they are destroying and the nature/wildlife along with it, to them it's all about making lots of money at our expence. The Developer submitted their Planning Application (DC/25/2733/FUL) to East Suffolk Council (ESC) on 25th July 2025; subsequently 464 Objections have been submitted raising "significant concerns". These concerns came from Local Communities, our Tourists, 14 Parish Councils, Framlingham Town Council, Statutory Consultees, our MP, our County Councillor, District Councillors, and 5 Consultants engaged by the Stop Deben Solar Action Group (SDSAG). An extension of time was agreed (between ESC and Applicant) until 27th February 2026 for further submissions.

🚨 Latest Update -

On 27th March 2026 an amended submission from the developers (still same planning application) became publicly available. This has triggered another period of public consultation, where statutory consultees and members of the public can submit their comments.

Currently the consultation expiry date is showing as 22nd April 2026, affording the community little time to respond over the Easter holidays. The documentation is vast - we are seeking an extension in order to fully assess the material, noting that the Developer has had nearly five months to resubmit.

The deadline to object has now been extended to February! Thank you so much to everyone that has already logged an objection 🙏 If this solar farm goes ahead it will be absolutely devastating for Sandy Lane Boarding Kennels, the local community, the countryside (including ancient woodlands) and all the surrounding wildlife. Please help to stop us from being engulfed by these 3 metre high Chinese baking trays! please object! Thank you.

Please object to the 287 acre solar farm on some of the best wheat growing farmland in the UK engulfing my kennels on three sides 😣 time is running out to get your objection in by 5th September!
