The Power Of Play 💪🏻 For those of you that have worked closely with me know that I LOVE building play drive. I believe it has so many benefits here are just a few ✅ ITS FUN- I’m always urging clients to have fun with their dogs. ✅ BUILDS CONFIDENCE- we all know that winning a game makes us feel good, this is the same for our dogs. ✅ BUILDS MOTIVATION, ENGAGEMENT AND RELATIONSHIP- Play helps your dog learn that sharing with you is a great thing. The more you give your dog, the more they will give you in return. ✅ REDUCTION IN REACTIVITY- In some cases when your dog is motivated by play, it can be used as a way to reward them for ignoring or not reacting to triggers. ✅ BREED FULFILMENT- This is a big one and one that I am a big believer in.. dogs will be dogs, they often have the desire to chase, sniff, stalk, herd, kill, retrieve, dig, bark, growl, bite.. all of which aren’t usually acceptable to our human world. When done right play can be an outlet for some of our dog’s natural urges and desires. So here’s your little reminder to play with your dog everyday 🐶

This is Barney, he is a little guy with some big feeling’s towards dogs and people. This started after being rushed by ‘off lead’ ‘it’s ok my dog’s friendly’ dogs on separate occasions (please keep your dog on a lead if it has no recall).
Due to these negative experiences Barney will bark, lunge and growl continuously at dog’s and people until they give him distance.
Well, during this week’s training session we had lots of small wins.
Dog training isn’t always pretty, it’s a slow process and there is no magic wand. This video demonstrates that, this is real life and unedited.
During our training session Barney makes some really great decisions, choosing to re-engage with me after being spooked by a man in a hi-vis jacket and the dustbin lorry!It might not sound like a lot, but trust me it’s huge!
I am really enjoying working with this little guy.. Small dogs can be trained too! 🖤🤎
