Ooooh I was in such a mood yesterday.
I woke up and knew I had a whole, sunny day to do as I pleased. Excellent! So what did I do?! Wasted it with scrolling on my phone and decision paralysis mostly! I did go out to get us pastries for brunch, which was a nice change and felt very middle aged 🤣
As the day wore on I was getting more and more frustrated with myself. Eventually I went out with the dog because I know that being in nature is never going to make me feel worse and will likely lift my mood, and if not then I have at least done my body some good! I took a book ("All Quiet on the Western Front" which is my book club book this month) and after feeling slightly irked that there were other people walking (on a very well trodden public route to a well known monument 🤣) I got over it and sat under a tree and read a couple of chapters with B attached to my foot. I didn't think that through as the potential for bombing off after a squirrel or deer was high and it could have been a very comedic scene of a short, rotunde woman being pulled along by the leg across the Oxfordshire Countryside by a large black lab with no sense of self/owner preservation!
I did feel better for doing it and Bruno got to go out and sniff to his heart's content so win-win 💚 I enjoyed the drive too, nice to feel the wind in my thinning hair (thanks hormones!) and listen to the radio with my fave furry being along for the ride (to be clear, that is my B Dog not the husband!)
I intend to walk more this week, not just to beat my sister and friend at our walking challenge (or at least not lose spectacularly)but because I love the countryside, fresh air and my silly black slug of a dog! What is your go-to to feel cheered up? And do you also get sucked into overthinking/over scrolling?!
Horses are great at being in the moment, and that rubs off on the humans around them so I am glad to have case studies booked in at the end of the week which will remind me to be present and make the most of the day that is here in front of me!
