I was very restrained. I waited aaaaaages before I crept closer (a good 5 minutes!). She had some scratches and sniffed some essential oil (German chamomile) then went off abruptly and stayed a little while away till another herd member pushed her along.

I attended the latter part of a brilliant review day for Equine Touch yesterday at Starlight Equine. Aliyah Woodland was our guest speaker and I was fascinated to listen to her talk about the science behind equine behaviour. Thanks Babette for a fabulous get together and lovely brownies 😍

Yesterday I handed my intermediate case studies and diagrams in to be marked. I will have my physical assessment in June and then hopefully that's me passed 🤞

The advanced level awaits.....

I have mixed feelings about riding.
I don't like bits, I don't like whips which are so common place, and most of all I dislike some people's attitude towards horses (ridden and otherwise). However, it is my most favourite thing to do, when the horse is in the right frame of mind and happy to have a plod about (or a sensible not so plod about a field which I haven't been able to do in years!)
I love to see people using kinder tack, hearing kinder choices of phrases and seeing people/yards making decisions based on horse welfare rather than human convenience.
I really enjoyed riding King Arthur last week, all 19.3hh of him, which is hilarious if you know my leg length 🤣
He has a bit and traditional saddle, both of which fitted well from what I could see and there was no suggestion of a whip to get him going etc, just acceptance that he will go at his own pace and we humans should feel privileged to be on board! Thanks Rein & Shine Equestrian Centre, what a treat!

Living in an environment where she has to think a little bit, not just stand in a square paddock and get fat, is part of what keeps Bustle going. She is 31 and crossed that stream very nonchalantly. Some of the others made more of a meal of it despite them doing it often 😆
With age comes wisdom and grace obviously, for horses anyway! 🤍
Thanks to Ellie aka best yard owner, for the video.

What a slog that was! Keep your fingers crossed for perfect marks ;)

Case studies on the beautiful Arab boys this morning.
Ember was affectionate and seemed pleased to see me, he was relaxed after his session. Monty very clearly told me that enough was enough about half way through his and despite my best charm, he wouldn't give me another chance but he had a lot of processing going on so I'm sure Equine Touch still did it's thing and helped him release some tension.

This will be a fabulous day 😊https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1AuphYFt6t/

Any more takers for my Equine Touch Review day on 11 May? Free to members of IETA! A fantastic chance to refresh your ET skills, connect with others, and eat the famous Starlight brownies!! Also so happy to have Equine Thoughts Aliyah Woodland as our guest speaker taking about the subtle aspects of equine body language you might not know, and how it can help bodyworkers. Happy Horses and Happy Humans!

Did some theory work today, now I only have 1 question left to do before I can submit it! Wooooooo!
The last question I did today was easy, thank goodness as my brain power was waning by then! I am no artist as you can see, but luckily I'm not marked on my drawing ability!
So close to finishing intermediate now.....2 case studies to do Friday and then just those 2 to see again after that and I am done!
I am attending a review day in early May and would love to be able to reply "Advanced" when asked what level I am studying at now!

Can't remember if I've posted this before. We went to the science museum in London 2 years ago and this was on display. It is fascinating but anatomy is so complicated!
Another question down today. Now they are all diagram drawing ones, my least favourite but lovely Babette doesn't mind my terrible drawing!
