Good Evening Newbrooker's π
Soooo this is a tough post to have to write today, but here goes π’
This morning our lovely rescue pony Margo was showing very clear signs of having colic. Unfortunately, we had to make the incredibly hard decision to put her to sleep π₯
Which left us with an even harder decision π
Little Bertie had been Margo's best friend since she came to live with us just over three years ago.
In recent months, both their health issues had started to become more prominent and, as a Team, with the support of our brilliant vet π©Ί, we had in our heads that this would sadly be their last summer π
But although we knew in our heads that this would sadly be their last summer, I don't think our hearts were ever truly prepared to say goodbye to them both β and certainly not today. π’
However, with Margo being so unwell, we made the incredibly tough decision that it would be kinder to let them go together.
This was absolutely no easy decision, but dear Little Bertie simply would not have coped without his best friend π΄β€οΈ
These two little Shetlands are going to leave a HUGE hole in our hearts here at Newbrook ππ
They were both such incredible characters, and so many people would stop by just to see them both π΄ππ΄
They spent a lot of time in our garden π‘ and became something of a stop-off point for people passing by on the Cotswold Way πΆπΌββοΈπΆπ½ββοΈ
There are definitely lots of photos πΈ with passing walkers on social media π
We also had lots of delivery drivers π and even the recycling β»οΈ men stopping to give them a cuddle π
The barn is going to feel very different now. We won't hear them calling to us as soon as we open the door in the mornings, or Bertie kicking his stable door demanding his breakfast π
They had the biggest personalities, touched the hearts of so many people and, without even trying, became such a huge part of life here at Newbrook π
Little Bertie, although a super old boy at 46 certainly didn't let age stop him. He lived his life here with us to the absolute fullest β right up until the very end, with his best friend by his side. π
They were loved, they were happy, they were cared for, and most importantly, they had each other. π
Newbrook just won't be the same without you. π
You were small, but mightyβ¦ and completely unforgettable π’
Bertie & Margo forever @ Newbrook π
