🎃 Halloween Tips!! 🎃

Halloween can be super scary for many dogs and easily send them into fight or flight mode!

Check out these tips below 👇 to help prepare your dog, you can also have some fun with them by playing a few games like apple bobbing or a surprise Halloween party for them where you pair the novelty of things like the decorations with positivity by rewarding your dog for being calm or interacting with different things such as a pumpkin.

Absolutely loved my pawsome adventure with Bella this afternoon!!

I've been a bit quiet lately due to life being a bit more hectic but I'm still here to help with your dog walking and training/behaviour struggles!

At the moment I have availability for walks (including solo and training walks) at weekends and one to one training on weekdays at 4/5pm ish and at weekends too.
Halloween season can be a real struggle for nervous and reactive dogs, so I'll be posting some free tips to help with this later!

What does perfect recall and loose lead walking have in common?...

Your dogs desire to stay CLOSE to you!

If that's what you want then play this game for 3 minutes a day and feel the relief of your dog wanting to choose YOU!

You can play on or off lead and wherever you are, but for best results start at home first and gradually build up to more distracting environments.

🐶To break it down, how you play is like this;

1. Throw a piece of visible food out for your dog to eat (e.g. chicken/cheese)

2. When they have eaten it and start to orient back to you (I.e. look at you), mark this moment by saying 'YES!'

3. Throw another piece of food out for them to eat in the opposite/another direction

Remember it's about a FUN time not a long time! 😍

Is your dog reactive?

I currently have some availability for one to one dog walks that are ideal for nervous/reactive dogs 🐶

On their adventures with me your dog will get to enjoy being themselves without being put in situations they find stressful... and I'll also add in some training games and strategies to help them with their struggles at no extra cost 😍

My one to one dog walks are £18/hour and run Monday- Friday at the times below, pop me a message to check availability for the day(s) you're interested in;
⭐10- 11am
⭐12-1pm
⭐ 2-3pm

I cover the Dursley/Cam/Uley/Berkeley areas with no extra travel costs 😊

Did you know it takes around 100 good experiences to outweigh just one bad experience?

Every single time you expose your puppy to another dog this is the risk you're taking, BUT you can help to set your puppy up for success by helping them to feel comfortable around other dogs in a safe environment.

By taking part in my socialisation sessions, your puppy will learn to associate calm and positive emotions with other dogs, which will in turn help them to be prepared for the times when other dogs are around.

We will also play some key puppy training games and you will go home with an awesome Pawsome Puppy pack! 😍

Some lovely adventures this week with Molly and Albie 😍🐶

You can see them both doing 'two paws on' which is a useful hack to really start your walks off on the right paw (excuse the pun! 🤣)

It works by helping to get their brain in the moment with you, kind of like mindfulness. Really helpful for dogs who feel a bit anxious or those whose brains are already in the future and so are full of anticipation!
