I know many of you have been bombarded with messages of the hot weather….
But the weather change massively affects dogs not only in temperature, humidity, air quality, atmospheric pressure..
Dogs are not used to huge swings in the jet stream in the uk, the biggest issue is th huge change they are trying to cope with.
At the moment please try the following-
*Make sure your dogs are cool
* have access to water all the time
* they do not need a walk everyday have training / enrichement time
* if they are panting they can have cool water on them to help cool them down, it does not make them go into shock (this is with vet’s advice as well)
* bring out the paddling pools for them to lounge in
* scatter feed your dogs to make dinner interesting as food on its own (like humans) can be boring if your not hungry. Also dogs won’t starve if they need food they will eat
*cool coats are e a good idea for humans and dogs :-)
* if you have a cooling mat, put them in the top of your crate if you have one, the cool air will go down on your dogs and create a cooler den for them to relax in.
Don’t dismiss the Change in he weather, it’s not just becuase it’s hot, it’s the air, the humidity; the barometric pressures that affect them as well. Be safe be careful and look after your dogs in helping them cope.
