We’re Heronden Independent Vets in Tenterden, Kent, and we just wanted to say how much we admire the amazing work of Kent Greyhound Rescue and everyone who opens their heart and home to a rescue greyhound or lurcher 🐾❤️
We love animals so much that we set up support for the kind people who rescue them, because giving a dog a second chance is such a special thing to do.
Rescuing a greyhound or lurcher can be incredibly rewarding, but we know it can also feel a little overwhelming at first. There can be lots of questions in those early days about their health, settling in, vaccinations, worries from their past, or just wanting someone kind to talk things through with.
That’s why we’re always happy to lend a hand 🐶
For rescue greyhounds, lurchers and new adopters, we can help with:
🩺 Initial health checks
💉 Vaccinations
🔎 Microchip checks
🪱 Flea and worming support
🐾 Neutering advice
🌿 Preventative healthcare
💬 General advice and reassurance
🏡 Support as they settle into their new home
We also support rescue and rehoming through our Rescue + ReHome Programme, working alongside rescue centres and organisations who do such important work for animals in need 🐕❤️
Once a rescue dog arrives, Heronden Independent Vets in Tenterden, Kent will gift the adopted rescue dog:
🩺 An initial health check on arrival
🌿 One year of our Preventative Healthcare Plan
This is worth £250 and is provided at no extra cost to the adopter.
We do this because we know how much love, time and kindness goes into rescuing a dog, and we want to help them get the healthiest, safest start possible in their new home 🏡❤️

If you’re adopting a greyhound or lurcher through Kent Greyhound Rescue, or you’re thinking about giving one of these lovely dogs a home, please do reach out. We’d honestly be so happy to help you feel supported from the very beginning 🐾
These are just some of the dogs currently in our care.
They are part of the seemingly never-ending stream of ex-racing greyhounds and abandoned lurchers who find themselves needing rescue.
Behind every one of these faces is a story. A dog who needs a second chance. A dog who deserves a sofa, a family and someone to love them.
Greyhounds and lurchers make incredible companions. They are affectionate, loyal, gentle souls who ask for so little and give so much in return.
Yet while these dogs wait for their forever homes, there are hundreds more greyhounds and lurchers across the country also waiting to be chosen. Behind them are countless others who will need rescue places in the days, weeks, months and years ahead.
The reality is that rescues like ours are struggling to keep up with demand. Every week there are more dogs needing help than there are foster homes, adopters and spaces available.
But every adoption changes a life.
When one dog leaves for a forever home, it creates space for another dog to be given a chance. One adoption doesn't just save one dog — it helps many more.
So if you are looking for your next dog, please consider adopting a greyhound or lurcher from Kent Greyhound Rescue. All of our dogs live in foster homes, allowing us to understand their personalities and match them with the right home.
These dogs are waiting ❤
