๐ŸŒก๏ธ๐Ÿถ Itโ€™s too hot for paws this weekend!

If the pavement feels hot to your hand, itโ€™s far too hot for your dogโ€™s feet. Hot weather can quickly lead to burns, dehydration, and heatstroke โ€” even on shorter walks.

Instead:
๐Ÿพ Walk early morning or late evening
๐Ÿ’ง Keep fresh water available
๐ŸŒณ Stick to shaded areas
๐Ÿก Try indoor enrichment and garden play instead

Our dogs rely on us to keep them safe. When in doubt, skip the walk. โค๏ธ

Every Swift Counts...

Swift care is very specialist, so if you find a grounded Swift, here is some advice on what to do and how to get help.

We are local and can help if we are available, but sometimes we are not and there are specialist carers and advisors you can contact.

First tip -never leave a grounded Swift, please take it indoors.

Swift SOS- Coordinating Rescues (Swifts, Swallows and Martins) co-ordinate swift care nationally.

Thanks โค๏ธ

โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿพ Outdoor Safety for Pets ๐Ÿพโ˜€๏ธ

Spring and summer are the perfect time for adventures with our pets โ€” but warmer weather also brings a few seasonal dangers to be aware of ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

Here are some common hazards to watch out for during walks and outdoor fun:

โš ๏ธ Grass seeds โ€“ can become trapped in paws, ears, noses and eyes
โš ๏ธ Bee & wasp stings โ€“ especially dangerous around the face and throat
โš ๏ธ Ticks โ€“ can spread disease and often hide around ears and between toes
โš ๏ธ Heat stroke โ€“ even mild days can be risky for pets, especially dogs
โš ๏ธ Toxic plants โ€“ including lilies, foxgloves and daffodils
โš ๏ธ Blue-green algae โ€“ found in ponds and stagnant water and can be fatal

๐Ÿ’š Top tips for keeping pets safe:
โœ”๏ธ Walk during cooler parts of the day
โœ”๏ธ Carry fresh water on walks
โœ”๏ธ Check paws, ears and coats after outdoor adventures
โœ”๏ธ Keep pets on parasite prevention treatments
โœ”๏ธ Avoid unknown ponds and long grass where possible

If your pet seems unwell after being outdoors, or you notice swelling, limping, excessive licking, vomiting or lethargy, contact your vet as soon as possible.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine with your furry friends โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿˆ

Veterinary nurses do so much more than many people realise. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™

They are the caring hands comforting your pet before surgery, the reassuring voice during nurse clinics, and the dedicated professionals monitoring patients throughout their recovery.

Veterinary nurses assist with anaesthesia, carry out dental procedures, run laboratory tests, provide advice on nutrition and weight management, administer medications, and support pets through both routine and emergency care.

They are there for the happy moments, the challenging days, and everything in between โ€” always putting animal welfare first.

We are incredibly grateful for the compassion, skill, and hard work our veterinary nurses bring to every patient and client each day. ๐ŸŒŸ

โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿพ Important Update: New EU Pet Travel Rules ๐Ÿพโœˆ๏ธ

Planning to travel to Europe with your pet this year? New EU pet travel rules for GB residents came into effect on 22nd April 2026, and there are some important changes owners need to know before travelling.

โš ๏ธ Whatโ€™s changed?
GB residents can no longer use EU-issued pet passports to travel into the EU โ€” even if your passport was issued before April 2026.

Instead, you will now need:
โœ”๏ธ A valid Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for EACH trip
โœ”๏ธ A current rabies vaccination
โœ”๏ธ A working microchip
โœ”๏ธ Tapeworm treatment for dogs travelling to certain countries

๐Ÿ“… Your AHC must be issued by a vet within 10 days of travel.

๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ The new rules apply to dogs, cats and ferrets travelling from Great Britain into EU countries.

If youโ€™re planning a holiday with your pet this summer, we strongly recommend booking your travel appointment well in advance to avoid any last-minute stress.

๐Ÿ“ž Contact our team today to discuss pet travel requirements and Animal Health Certificates.
